Steve came home last week. That was the last time he got to see our beautiful home. Our fields, our pup Tony, and all the things we could have had if he hadn't of left. If that one bullet would have missed by a couple of centimeters, he would be here by my side. I sat in the living room that over looked the fields and the forest beyond. I had a book in my lap, Wishes of a Girl. Tony came into the room, he whimpered over to me. He laid his head on my book. He looked at me with sad eyes. I put my hand on his head. “I know, I miss him too,” I said starting to cry, “I miss him too.” I got on the ground and grabbed tony around the neck, I hugged him. Tony was a golden retriever, Steve’s favorite dog. I sobbed into Tony’s fur. I pulled away from Tony and looked into his eyes. They were white, white as snow. Tony licked his jowls. I smiled a little. Tony licked the tears off of my face. I laughed. “You are such a nice doggy,” I said rubbing the top of his head. “Such a nice doggy.”
