Sasuke sighed as he watched the movers load the boxes of things into the neighboring house. He couldn't focus with all the noise and just decided to sit out on his porch, hoping to catch a glimpse of his new neighbor. He closed his eyes and let out a soft sigh, tilting his head back, and exposing his neck, before leaning to the side to grab the cup of coffee he had sitting on the railing of his deck. He closed his eyes again, once he was finished taking a sip from his mug and returning it to his previous place on the railing.
"Hey there, new neighbor!" a voice practically yelled, nearly causing Sasuke to jump out of his skin. He pried his eyes open to be greeted with what he thought to be quite a mesmerizing sight. There was a man in maybe his late twenties, about Sasuke's age, with golden blond hair and ocean blue eyes, with what seemed to be whisker shaped birthmarks or tattoos on his cheeks. Sasuke simply just stared at the man, as he was, in fact, shirtless, beads of sweat glistening on his muscular form, a white towel draped across his shoulder.
The man brought the towel to his forehead, dabbing the sweat off. "You good?" He spoke again, and Sasuke snapped out of his trance. "What? Oh, yes. Hello," He greeted, gathering himself and standing up. "I'm Sasuke," he held his hand out to the other male, and he grinned, grabbing it with two hands and shaking it rather vigorously. "Naruto," he relied, the grin he had still sprawled across his face. Sasuke smiled weakly, weary of his hand still being trapped in Naruto's vice-like grip.
Naruto seemed to realize that he was squeezing his neighbors hand a little too tightly and let Sasuke's hand fall to his side, as he was not supporting the handshake any longer. "Sorry," he muttered sheepishly, raising his hand and rubbing the back of his neck. Sasuke tilted his head, examining the man that would be living next door to him from now on. "You checking me out or something?" Naruto teased, and a rush of blood immediately ran to Sasuke's face, though he tried to hide it. "What? I-" he began to say, but Naruto cut him off with a laugh, and Sasuke thought it might have been the most amazing sound he's ever heard.
"Just teasing," Naruto clarified, though Sasuke's face was still painted red. "Do you... need any help?" Sasuke asked, though he doubted he did, he could probably do it all himself, plus there were already movers, but he decided to offer anyway, it was the polite thing to do, no?
"Ah, no, actually. If you look over there," he paused to point with his thumb in the direction of his home, "They just hauled the last box into my house for me. But if you'd like, you can come over for a drink, I have lemonade," Naruto offered, eyeing Sasuke's coffee on the rail. "I don't see why you're drinking hot coffee in heat like this," he mused.
"I stayed up all night working on my novel, I need something to keep me awake for the day," Sasuke explained, and Naruto nodded. "Ah, yes, the work on an author. No sleep," he joked, and Sasuke smiled gently. "Yeah. Do you write?" he questioned, and Naruto began to shake his head. "Oh, no. Definitely not. It's just not for me," he quickly denied. "But my brother, he's very into art. He told me that writing is a form of art, and he never sleeps when he's working on whatever clay sculpture he's been working on." he went on to explain. Sasuke nodded. "Yep," he agreed, and Naruto smiled.
"So how about that drink?" Naruto questioned once again, and Sasuke scoffed. "You sound like you're asking me on a date, not inviting me inside for lemonade," he remarked, and Naruto grinned. Can't I be doing both?" he asked, and Sasuke's jaw fell open, just the tiniest bit. This smooth fucker.
"You got alcohol, then?" Sasuke pressed, grabbing his mug and taking another sip, looking up at Naruto as he did so. Naruto paused for a moment before replying. "Nah, but I passed by a bar on the way here," he said, and Sasuke shook his head. "The one on Sunagakure street?" The raven asked, and Naruto nodded. "I think so. Is it any good?"
"Nah, it sucks. If you're wanting to take someone out on a date, I mean. If you're going there to drink your troubles away then yeah, it's good. But a better date spot is the one on Kumogakure street," Sasuke informed the blond, and Naruto tilted his head. "Where's that?" he asked.
"That's what Google maps is for, isn't it?" Sasuke yawned. "If you want lemonade, come on into mine, I have a feeling it will be easier to get than in your, what I assume, very messy house at the moment. You haven't even started unpacking, and you're inviting people over? Brave," Sasuke offered, and Naruto smiled sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck. "Yeah, sounds like a decent plan," he replied.
Sasuke made his way over to his front door, and Naruto followed when Sasuke beckoned him with a waving hand. "You coming?" he asked, holding the door open for the blond. Naruto entered, soon followed by Sasuke. "Take your shoes off," the raven instructed, and Naruto complied, placing them neatly beside Sasuke's, who had already slipped them off and made his way into the kitchen.
"Your place is nice," Naruto mused, looking around.
"Thanks," was all Sasuke said in reply.
"You're not very talkative, are you?" Naruto stated more than asked, accepting the glass of lemonade that was being handed to him. "I've been talking this entire time, dumbass," Sasuke replied, sipping his coffee instead of lemonade, that was too sweet for him. He only really had it from the time he was babysitting his brother's kid, Iku. She had quite the sweet tooth, that one.
"Riiightt.... you were telling me about a great date location. Well, as good as a bar can be for a date, at least. Buying someone a drink is a date though, right? Getting drunk is quite fun. Anyway. I did notice that you didn't turn me down," Naruto rambled, and Sasuke's lips curved into a smile. Was Naruto nervous?
Sasuke laughed, setting down his not empty mug. "I suppose if wouldn't hurt to get to know you a little better, neighbor. So no, I didn't reject you. In fact, I'm accepting your invitation," he informed the blond, and Naruto let out a sigh of relief. "Oh, thank goodness. I was kind of nervous there, haha," he laughed, rubbing the back of his neck again.
Naruto grinned. "Alright! Can I have your phone number, then? I'll have to check my schedule to see when I'm free, so I'll text you a time," he said, before winking and walking back to the door, and leaving dramatically.
Sasuke just stared at the door for a moment before the blond came back in, a sheepish look ok his face.
"I forgot to actually get your number, didn't I," Naruto stated walking back to the kitchen, where the raven remained seated with a blank expression on his face, trying not to laugh, and nodded.
"Yup."
