From being in a small town school started later at nine in the morning and ended at 1:30 in the afternoon. Also because it's a small town there wasn't much to do besides going to the park or mall in the center of town but today was different. As I was sitting alone at lunch in the court yard a girl named Avala asked if she could sit with me. I said sure and she asked if I was new in town since she hadn't seen me. I told her that me and my brothers moved here. She told me that she moved here a month prior. I asked if she knew anything about the strangeness of the town and the things in the woods. She said that she has tried to look into it but her parents told her not to go anywhere near those woods. I asked if she thinks this town is strange and she agreed that this town was hiding something. We continued to talk until the bell rang and we hurried back to class. The rest of school I was thrilled to find someone else who believed in me. The last bell rang and I met Mark and Jax in the court yark. As we walked home instead of Jax and Mark talking, Jax instead questioned who I was talking to. I said that she was just some girl. Jax said to trust no one and watch who I talked to.

The next day I sat in the same spot at lunch and Avala came and sat with me. We talked more about what we thought were in the woods. Avala believed there was a beast in the woods. However I believed that the previous mayor had something to do with all of this. I asked if she would like to go to the park to talk and maybe even find out more about the woods. She agreed and the bell rang.

As me and my brothers got home I went up stairs while Mark was getting dinner ready. I grabbed my crossbow and hurried down the stairs to eat then waited for Avala to pick me up on her bike. I saw her pull in but just when I was about to leave Jax stopped me and asked where I was going. I said that she and I were going to the mall. With this I walked outside and rode into town.

We arrived at the park and started observing the woods being sure not to go too deep and to not get noticed. I kept my eyes on Avala to be sure she wasn't planning anything. As we walked deeper in the forest we heard the same whistle but it was louder. Following this there was a great shadow that covered the woods then vanished. I raised my crossbow and Avala grabbed her camera. We tried to go deeper but there was an overwhelming sense of dread. We decided to head back worried something bigger was going to happen.

Avala dropped me off and as I went to go up stairs Jax was there at the bottom of them. "I know you didn't go to the mall." Jax said. "You went to the woods." I tried to get past him but he refused to let me up. I told him to leave me alone. He told me that I was lucky that grandad didn't know about this. I told him to quit being a jerk. He wasn't in the mood to fight so he let me go. He told me to trust no one but I knew better not to trust anyone in this town, not even Avala.
