Future

Jacque and I have been dating for four months. I think I am finally ready to ask her to be my girlfriend. Tonight we're having a housewarming for my new home. Yuo, that's right! I officially finished school in Real Estate. We graduated a few days ago and it's still a big accomplishment. Jacque has met my parents and I have met her mom and her step dad. I am so happy we got this far and for that she deserves to be with me. I invited the rest of the gang too and D finally got a new car! She did take Loni to court but she didn't show up so she just bought a new car instead. Jacque and I were out by the pool walking around the perimeter. I held her hand as we were walking. She looked beautiful. She wore a white strapless dress, some white 4in' heels, and a white shawl. She wore some nipple coverings so her piercings wouldn't show that much. She managed to grow her hair and get some braids. I don't know why, but she got some 40in' braids that were $500! I was flabbergasted but it's her money. She also had her nails done in all white.

Me on the other hand, I just had on all black. It was a black silk button up shit. I didn't button it up all the way and I had it tucked in my pants. I had some black slacks which flooded a lil bit. It's supposed to look that way. I didn't wear my durag this time but I did have my glasses on.

"You are so beautiful..."I said, twirling her around.

"Prod, stop doing that!"she said, blushing.

"It's true! What you want me to say?"

"I don't know," she laughed.

"You must know that I'm only telling the truth,"

"I appreciate it,"

"Ya come on. We about to gather around," my mom said.

Everyone gathered around the back yard. We all had glasses of champagne in our hands to raise in the air once the speech was done.

"I'd like to thank you all for coming and celebrating with us today. I greatly appreciate it. As we all know, this home right here has been around for decades and we cherish and love this home and all that it has brung. Been passed down for 6 generations counting. My 4th great grandfather, who has since passed, vowed for this house to keep its life in the arms of the men in this family. One hundred and fifty-six years of life, pain, struggle, and courage...I am grateful to have someone so dedicated keeping the family together. I remember when my father first took me here. I was 17. Now, I thought the house was ugly, not gonna lie," He said, as everyone laughed. "But, my dad said 'Son, you're gonna be the next caretaker of this home. Your grandfathers fought long and hard in the war and fought even harder to keep the rights to this home. I want you to cherish life and live it the best as you can. You are a strong soldier. You carry dignity, unity, and most importantly, motivation.' I didn't know what he meant by that 'cause I was only 17 at the time. But as I grew older, I now know what he meant. At such a young age, I was always a busy body. I was in everything and I wanted to do everything. I would try to work at a young age tryna be like him, I would find new activities to do, I would even break down things and fix them back up...just like I did. There were times I was going through so much and I held my ground and fought past it. Being an only child and had to do a lot of things on my own. I was lonely and wanted to be happy. I went out, found work, made friends, helped my parents to the best of my abilities, finished school, started a family, and I am now in the happiest state that I've ever been in!" He said, as the crows clapped. "I have a wonderful son, a wonderful wife, wonderful parents, wonderful friends, and a wonderful support system that I cannot thank enough! This house is the foundation to all! We build, we fight, we manage, and we take charge! And for that, I am happy to share this house with my son, Craig Jr!" He said, as everyone clapped.

I walked up to my dad and we shared a big hug.

" Now, Craig here was afraid of getting the house passed down to him so we agreed to wait. Now my son is a graduate and ready to take on a huge responsibility. My son has been a huge help and one of the best persons on Earth! I love you!" He said to me.

"I love you too," I said as we hugged again.

The crowd cheered and shared applause.

"Now, let's take a sip of this Champagne shall we?" He said, raising his glass in the air.

Everyone raised their glasses in the air and took a sip. Everyone clapped again and the music began to play. Ne-Yo Champagne Life. I walked back over to Jacque.

"I am so proud of you," she said, hugging me.

"Thank you, babygirl,"

"Not my bestie officially being a homeowner," D said, giving me a hug.

"Right! When we gone have the house parties." RL joked.

"Soon," I said, laughing.

"I want first dibs on the master bedroom," Jay said.

"Boy please,"

"Right, because I have dibs on it," August said.

"Ya hella funny," I said,laughing.

We all talked for a little bit. I thought about it earlier, asking Jacque to be my girlfriend. I didn't wanna wait any longer. I pulled her to the side and took her down the small hill for some alone time.

"These heels are starting to hurt," she said, taking her heels off.

"Feel better?"

"Yeah,"

"Hey, I wanted to ask you something..." I said, holding her hands.

"Sure, what is it,"

"You gotta give me a kiss first,"

"Okay,"

We kissed for a few seconds before breaking apart. She has the best kisses in the world.

"Now, you gone tell me?"

"Yeah...Jacque...I want you–"

"AH!" someone screamed.

"What the hell!" Jacque said, walking back up the hill and I followed behind her.

When we got up there, we found D in the pool.

"I am sorry!" Jay apologized.

"Jay, really," D said.

"I'm so sorry! Let me help you! Grab my hand," he said, reaching out.

"Okay," she said. She took his hand but then pulled him in.

"D!" Jay yelled.

"How does it feel?" she asked, laughing and splashing water on him.

"I wanna get in!" Jethro said, jumping in.

"Me next!" RL shouted as he faced his back to the pool and fell backwards.

"Shit, might as well join," August said, jumping in.

Me and Jacque looked at each other, shrugged our shoulders and joined the gang.

"Uh, uh! Can't forget about me!" My dad said, as he jumped in.

"Mom, you coming in?" I asked.

"Oh, no, baby," she said, nodding her head.

"Come on, Michelle! It's fun! Live a little bit, baby!" My dad said.

My mom took her shoes off and took the ladder to get in the pool. A couple more people joined us as the rest were eating food, talking, and playing table games. Today was a good day. I wonder how the future will look for me.
