The next day everyone was given what they will be doing for Outreach Day. "Ugh I got Uriah's Heap" Katherine complained to the crow on her shoulder before she bumped into Wednesday. "Oh. Hey what did you get?"

"The café." Wednesday replied with and Katherine remembered that Xavier has the exact same.

"Hey switch with me" Katherine told Wednesday.

"What's in it for me?"

"I'll help you and you stay away from Xavier at the same time" Katherine said as the crow turned into a snake and hissed at Wednesday.

"Fine" and they switched.

"All students will report for their volunteer jobs at 10:00 a.m. sharp, followed by a community lunch at 1:00. As you know, this year Outreach Day culminates in a very special event, the dedication of a new memorial statue in the town square, which will also include performances by Nevermore students." Weems spoke to all the students as the were excited of what they got. "As representatives of our school, I trust you will all put your best face forward."

"What did you get?" Xavier asked as he looked at Katherine. She looked back at him and smiled

"The same as you"

"Cool. So you wanting to walk or go in the bus to Jericho?" Xavier asked.

"I don't think walking is a choice" Katherine sighed and they smiled heading to the bus. Katherine and Xavier sat at the back of the bus. It was only them two along with Wednesday.

"Hey wanna listen to some music" Katherine looked at Xavier who was sketching in his book. "Yeah sure" she smiled as they shared headphones and listened to music.

Then they reach it. Jericho. The little town that hates them. Yaaaaay. Her and Xavier walked out and Xavier at a newly white wall.

"They covered the paintings" Katherine sighed and Xavier just nodded. That's when Katherine felt Wednesday's emptiness walked up to them.

"Why are you staring at a blank wall?" She asked and Katherine just sighed and looked at her. Giving her a dirty look.

"It wasn't blank last Outreach Day." Xavier told her.

"Are you still stewing because I rejected your invitation?"

"I did go out on a limb for you. Please. I'm just cannon fodder in whatever cold war you're waging with Bianca."

"I have more pressing issues."

"Like what, hm?" Katherine asked looking at Wednesday.

"Tracking down the monster that killed Xavier's roommate." Katherine sighed at Wednesday's words as her and Xavier started walking away and Wednesdays followed.

"Oh my god. For the last time, Rowan was expelled. Everyone saw him leave." Xavier told Wednesday.

"Just drop it" Katherine added.

"Have you spoken to him since?" Wednesday questioned and they stopped walking.

"I texted him a few times, but I never heard back. I just figured he wanted Nevermore in his rearview mirror." Xavier answered her.

"Or he's dead."

"I don't know why you care. It's not like you knew the guy."

"I'm not sure why you care so little. People can dismiss me and make a million other excuses, but I'm not gonna stop."

"Oh, great. I guess you can add "thief" to your resume. I don't know what the big deal is about an old Nightshade's journal anyways." Xavier told Wednesday and Katherine just sighed.

"You didn't seem surprised when I showed you this last night. You've seen it before, haven't you?"

"Seen what?" Katherine asked looking at Wednesday then Xavier.

"Yeah. A couple days before the Harvest Festival. It was open on Rowan's desk. I assumed he stole it after we kicked him out of the Nightshades. Then I confronted him about it, and he kind of went ballistic on me." Xavier explained and as Xavier thought of it Kathrine had a quick vision of it. Xavier flung to the wall.

"He threw you against the wall with his telekinesis." Wednesday said, she knew. Well knew something.

"Yeah. How did you know that?" Xavier asked in confusion.

"Lucky guess."

"It's weird that you're in this. This journal is like, what, 30 years old?"

"Hey. What's Crackstone doing in the picture with you?" Katherine pointed out as Wednesday showed them the book.

"You know who that is?"

"Yeah everyone does, it's Joseph Crackstone." Katherine said to Wednesday who looked confused and curious at the same time.

"He's, like, Jericho's founding father." Xavier added.

"He's a big deal around here?"

"Yeah, look. That's him." Xavier said pointing to the statue of Joseph Crackstone. Then they all went to the places they were meant to be.

"Chaos. Keep an eye on our mysterious friend"
Katherine told the crow as it nodded and flew off. Katherine walked into the café along with Xavier.

"Xavier. I want you to stay away from Wednesday." Katherine told him in a serious tone.

"Why?"

"Because she doesn't feel the same way about you. And I don't want you to get hurt. It's just..." Katherine lost her words as her eyes met Xavier's gaze.

"It's just..? What?" Xavier asked and Katherine fake coughed and looked away.

"Nothing... oh fuck sake" Katherine mumbled as she saw Tyler come up to them with uniform. He did a friendly smile and handed them to them.

They changed into the uniform and took orders and stuff. "Xavier." Katherine said as she went up to him.

"I'm sorry. If you want to hang around Wednesday I guess you can. I was just looking out for you.." Katherine said to him and he looked at her.

"Okay. But I don't think Wednesday really wants to hang out unless she wants answers" Xavier said as took the mucky cups of the table.

"True. Hey wanna meet in the music room later?" Katherine asked and Xavier nodded before Katherine smiled and went over to the new customers.
