The lightning erupted across the dark sky painting the sky with yellows and whites, the mixed precipitation of rain and snow fell from the black smoky clouds. In the distance there was hurried breaths you could hear throughout the redwood forest, snarling and yelping filled the forest as blood splattered against the white snow. A tawny brown and black female had sprung from the bushes and was making her way southeast away from the battlefield. In her mouth there was a small golden tan pup with flecks of cream in his coat, she quickly made her way out of the warzone that had happened. Multiple screams of her packmates and some foreign packs could be heard from miles, the sounds were horrific as they rung throughout her ears.
She ran rocketing through the redwoods trying to get away from the scene alive. All she could do now was run and hope her packmates would be alright by the end of the brutal massacre. Suddenly her ears perked up at a sudden noise that was making their way towards her. The female sniffed the air but to no avail as the rain had masked the scent, she quickly took the initiative and jumped into some foliage below. The pup whined as she quickly hushed him crouching down before long two massive dogs had appeared as they started to look around and analyze every detail left behind. "We must find that pup now!" one of them barked as they began snarling and stalking around looking for her and the pup. She could tell one of them was some sort of shepherd breed and the other resembled a Czechoslovakian Wolfdog. That she knew for a fact, she had to escape now before they found her. Slowly she began using the cover of the tall trees and the darkness to her advantage, easily slipping away from her perpetrators. "Come on Storm..." She said in a mumble as she is far away from the warzone.
Storm's eyes flickered as she stares back at her once home now terrorized, she wants to protect her land for what it is, but she knows she has a duty. A duty to get the alphas pup to safety, the shepherd suddenly hears cries from behind her and she whips around in a snarl ready to rip apart whatever was coming her way but soon realized it was a troop of her own. She quickly calmed down as she had recognized these hounds, they looked awful. Storm was mortified as the dogs had multiple body parts missing as some had their eyeballs hanging from out of their socket, their throat had been pulverized and ripped apart as she could see the pharynx, esophagus and the trachea sticking out of their throats. They were in so such pain as their eyes screamed help me, please! But she couldn't do anything for them, even if they did get the medical help, they needed there was no guaranteed of survival. As her packmates looked on at her desperately wanting her to help them she turned around and ran away. Leaving the bloodied mess of the hounds alone to suffer, she didn't want to but what choice did she have? She didn't know if they had been followed or worse but either way their survival chance was low. She didn't need slackers to take care of, that'd make her mission a lot harder.
Storm could hear their cries but for now she needed to keep pushing as she ran southeast, tears had started streaming down her face as she maneuvered through the thick trees and massive rocks, but she made the awful choice to look back. To look back at them, she watched as all of their bodies had succumbed to death. It was a traumatizing thing to watch all of them limp over and fade away as if it was nothing. "I'm sorry..." She says before jumping over a bush. She trips over a rock and rolls into the snow crashing into bits of twigs and leaves as she flips over onto her jaw; she shakes her head and tries to assess the situation as she noticed she had flung the pup a few meters away from her. Sighing in relief she got up and trotted over only to be hit with a wave of fear. In front of her she saw something that wasn't even a dog. Not even a wolf. Not even a bear or a elk. She didn't even know what that thing was as her whole body trembled, her heart began to speed up as she heard the maniacal laughter. That thing... no... it wasn't anything like she saw before. It was a massive wolf, bigger than all she had ever seen before. It was like he was the king of them all.
"Hello Storm... oh what's this? Did you bring me a treat?" The massive wolf said cackling before looking down at the small pup, her eyes widened as her fear was still very visible, but she had jumped in front of the pup to protect him. "Who are you? How do you know my name-?" "Shh... that is not irrelevant right now. I'll make you a deal, give me the pup and I'll let you return to your home scot-free." The wolf said, his yellow eyes piercing right through her soul though she knew she had to stand her guard. Storm snarls not backing down, "I cannot allow you to take this pup!" The wolf's gaze darkened as he bared his fangs crashing his head into her body, Storm coughed up blood as the wind was knocked out of her. She stumbled and collapsed before regaining her strength, she attempted to attack him but before her teeth had made impact with his flesh his meaty paw smashed down onto her head, she let out an agonizing cry of pain as the wolf sunk his fangs deep into her neck before flinging her body against the tree. Blood trickled from her mouth as she was now paralyzed from the spine, her legs twitched violently as she was spasming out. "Poor little Storm... do you know who I am?" The wolf trekked towards Storm with a sinister smile, she could not move or do anything. All she could do was stare into those devilish eyes of yellow, she wanted to make a sound. But not even a cry or a peep left her maw as she was stunned.
"I am Taong-Ganid. The King of the Forest!" He laughed before stomping onto her paralyzed body, "No hard feelings but..." Taong-Ganid says before clamping down onto her body, she let out a shriek, but she couldn't move as he dragged her over to a pit full of spikes, it must have been a hunter trap. Her eyes widened but she couldn't do anything to escape the jaws of the evil king Taong-Ganid as he flung Storm into the pit. She screamed out before her body was impaled by the spikes below, she landed on three. One going through her brain, one though the midbody and one going through her neck. He cackled, his yellow eyes glinting in the darkness as he trudged towards the scared golden pup that was frozen in fear. "My my! Look at you... so innocent. Too bad your old man couldn't defend himself huh?" The wolf taunts the pup as he's paralyzed in fear. Suddenly Taong-Ganid makes a move snapping up the pup in his jaws, it cried out as the king had led him over a ledge. Below was a raging river full of logs and sticks. The pup sneezed and looked up at the monster pleadingly, but it seems the wolf had no heart for him. "Bye bye now!" Taong-Ganid said through the pelt of the young pup before sending him plummeting below. The pup had landed in the river, he'd be surely dead now as the maniac wolf cackled and cackled. "I am king! I am king!" He danced around, his dark grey tail swishing about as he skipped to the warzone.
When Taong-Ganid had reached the warzone, his grin had grown immensely, the corpses of dogs and wolves scattered the field as he disrespected their bodies. Stepping and taunting them as he did so, he was so sick in the head. The wolves that he commanded bowed down to him before an Irish Wolfhound trotted up to him. Taong-Ganid's eyes sparkled expectantly of the male. "Lucillius. Tell me! How did the battle go?" His twisted smile grew wider as the gruff male hound responded with exactly what he was hoping for, "Well. We managed to kill all the damn bastards. They won't be rising again." Lucillius spat before walking with Taong-Ganid, "Wonderful! That is better than I expected, I knew I could count on you!" His yellow eyes flared in the wolfhound's face as he rolled his eyes, "Well yeah you put us against the weak frilly pooches." Their paws made the bloody snow crunch as Taong-Ganid looked around the battlefield happily. He suddenly saw the high rock he was looking for and smiled devilishly.
The massive wolf leaped onto the rock as he looked down at his soldiers to give a speech. Lucillius rolls his eyes before padding up beside him and sitting down with a huff, all the wolves and hounds looked at him expectantly waiting for any orders. Taong-Ganid cleared his throat sitting up tall. He was bigger than Lucillius way bigger and it was pretty intimidating as his yellow eyes flared. "Today soldiers you have done great! You have achieved something I couldn't have done without you! Conquering this land makes me king of the forest. This means we have easy access to all accessible prey items! This also means we have easy access to the humans." Taong-Ganid sneered as his soldiers cheered happily, they were in bad shape, but they could shake it off, Lucillius didn't really care for this at all. You could see the apparent boredom on his face. "Now say it! Chant with me! Hail to the king!" Taong-Ganid howled as his soldiers repeated from below, "Hail to the king! Hail to the king! Hail to the king!" Their roaring cries of passion could be heard from miles below.

After The Storm Incident
Near the canyon there was a small pack of dogs that were currently residing beside the river. One of the dogs which was the leader was a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog. Her ears perked up due to the noise of maniacal laughing. Her packmates did too as they looked up to see Taong-Ganid hovering the pup over the water. Their mouths agape, "Leader! Is... is he really going to drop that pup?" They were mortified as they watched him fling the pup off into the river. "Leader we must do something! Leader!" Her ears twitched as she heard the cries of her pack. Without any hesitation she sprang into action leaping into the water, she managed to leap from log to log. The river was making it hard, and she almost slipped multiple times before she snatched up the pup and flung him over to land. Her beta Pyrus barely caught the pup. She breathed a sigh of relief as she crossed back over shaking her fur full of the water. Pyrus with his spotted white coat licked the pup to try and get him warm again as he shivers. "He's lucky to be alive... but what kind of dog throws a pup into a river?" "That wasn't no dog... or wolf didn't you see those eyes... they were the eyes of a demon from hell." She said as her pack gasped. "A demon?" "No way! There has to be an explanation!" "But who can explain the massive size of that thing?" "It can't be a monster. Can it?" The pack was now freaking out and discussing the thing that they had saw. Pyrus turns to the leader, "Lotus. We must warn the other packs of this 'demon'."
Lotus nods her head looking at the dalmatian, Pyrus. "That will be done later but first we must get this pup to safety now. The snow isn't good for him." They were right, if he didn't get to a warm place now, he would succumb to the cold. Pyrus nods, "Listen up! We're heading back to camp! If you see anything suspicious relating to that thing report it to me or leader!" The dogs start making their way back to camp quickly, the lightning had died down by now and it was no longer raining. The wet mush of the snow getting stuck between their paws, but they must not stop. Not only for the pup but for their own safety as well, they don't know if that monster noticed them or not. They jumped over a small stream and reached the cavern they resided in; it wasn't as nice as the pup's last camp but it's better than sitting out in the cold and freezing to death. Lotus, Pyrus and the other members gather around the small golden pup. They sigh of relief once the pup starts to show signs of life again, "Thank goodness he's alive." Pyrus says and Lotus nods in agreement. "What's your name little guy?" She says nudging him with his nose and the pup yelps in fear, she backs away understanding that the pup must be frightened over what had happened to him earlier. Pyrus turns to Lotus a little bit worried, "I don't think he's old enough to even speak let alone know his name." "Hmm... how about we name him!" The pack cheers with excitement. "I have a name! Let's name him Johnny!" "No, Let's name him Goldie!" "What about Matt?" "What about Blade or Sword?" The pack rambles on with names and then Lotus suggests a name.
"What about Lucky? Since he was lucky enough to survive." Lotus says a bit proud of this name, Pyrus nods and agrees. "I like the sound of that name. It suits the little guy!" The rest of the pack chimes in about how much they liked the name and that it was a perfect fit though some were still upset about their name not being picked. It was clear due to their mumbling, grumbling and angry faces. "Now, guys don't get all mad because your name didn't get picked. All that matters is that he has a name and he's alive right now." The pack starts giggling and laughing at the ones that were mad but soon enough they start joining in on the fun. Lotus now looking down at the golden pup as he stares up at her expectantly, "Alright little one, from now on your name is Lucky." The pack cheers and howls.
The pup has now found his place in the pack, his new name was Lucky. Whatever past he had before was now erased and he was given a new opportunity. A new life he'll cherish and whatever was stirring in the redwoods forest was something sinister. So sinister it was like the devil's rebirth. Related... but not.
