"Did you watch SAO again last night?" I scratched the back of my head and laughed nervously. "Maybe?" "You seriously need to get an appointment with a counselor." Konoha sighed. "I think that you need to watch it more Konoha." I pointed an accusing finger at her. "You could use an escape from all the studying you do." "But I get excelling grades all year while you are just making it by." She retorted, pushing her oval glasses back up her nose.
I dropped my head on my desk and groaned. The brunette had a point. "Argument again?" I looked up and smiled at the strawberry haired girl came skipping over. "Hey Toru!" I smiled and waved. She waved back just as the bell rang and I sighed once again. The world couldn't let me have a break. I had stayed up until three watching the whole first season of Sword Art Online last night and my sleep was taking over. I was half listening throughout the whole first half of the day, when lunch finally came. "Yes!" I cheered as me, Konoha, and Toru walked down the hall in a triangle formation. I noticed a teacher and a man in a lab coat talking to a boy with his back facing my direction. The teacher glanced my way and raised his hand in the air.
"Miss. Akatsuki! Please come here a moment." I walked over and the teacher dismissed my friends. "Hai, you wanted to see me?" I asked innocently. I haven't done anything lately and I had never seen the boy now standing next to me before. The teacher gestured to the man in the lab coat. "This is Dr. Fuji. He's personally asked for you two in particular. I'm glad we caught you." The teacher laughed nervously. For us personally? Seriously what is this? I thought. "All of you can speak in the meeting room. No one should be in there right now." "Thank you kind sir." Dr. Fuji smiled. He forgot Mr. Karo's name. I walked into the meeting room last and sat down across from the boy. He had shiny brown hair that just reached his light blue eyes and he looked as bored as a thumb nail. "What's this about?" He suddenly spoke up.
I looked at Dr. Fuji and nodded. He sighed and put a brown brief case on the wooden table. He shuffled through a few things before pulling out two files. He slid them over to each of us and I picked it up curiously. The front page had my school picture in the left corner and my medical records and such were all throughout the file. "What is this?" I asked slightly angry. What did they plan to do with my personal information? "Have you read or watched the anime Sword Art Online?" My eyes lit up before narrowing into slits. "I've watched and read it dozens of times. What does a anime about a game have to do with anything?" I asked cautiously. I noticed the boy across from me was doing the same thing. Dr. Fuji raised his hands up and started moving his hands up in down as a bead of sweat rolled down from his forehead. "Don't get all angry now! This is a once and a lifetime opportunity!" He argued nervously. "What kind of opportunity?" The boy asked.
"You see," Dr. Fuji started as he sat down and closed his brief case. "We have developed the technology to make that game in SAO come to reality. After doing countless research we came across you two and knew that you should be our first test subjects. Obviously we don't want the actually anime to come true so we need to find out anything we can about the software before it becomes available for public use." My eyes widened at the new information. I shot up from my chair, nearly knocking it over. "What kind of game are we talking about here?" I slammed my hands down on the desk. Dr. Fuji reared back and laughed nervously. "We created a game where you can create your own character inside the game, choose to be one out of four options, and fight against monsters and such evil beings. There is also going to be tournaments held and boss battles on different levels of worlds." My eyes widened. "Best day ever!" I nearly screamed with excitement.
The boy covered his ears, but you could see the shock on his face. "Where do I sign up?" I asked eagerly. Dr. Fuji smiled. "We called each of your parents and they have agreed that if you accept our offer, you may be excused from school here. You will be staying in rooms at the building though so your family will be limited to seeing you once a month." My eyes widened. What about Aio and granny? My parents obviously gave the OK so I knew nothing else was holding me back. Hearing a voice I was snapped from my thoughts. "You gonna do it?" My head whipped in the direction of the smirking boy. "Of course. And I'm going to be baddass in this game so you better watch out." I sneered. "Challenge accepted." We stared at each other for a while. We didn't blink until the sound of something snapping closed loudly brought us out of our trance. "We'll take you both home and you can get stuff from your homes. We can pick you up in about an hour after you're dropped off so take all the time you need." We both nodded and walked after Dr. Fuji. The teachers and faculty watched us leave, but I ignored them.
We drove in silence to my house first and I was left out on the front porch. Well this is interesting!
