A computer appeared in the wooden room I had been transported to. I tapped the word "Female" and a girl that was as white as snow appeared in front of me. She didn't blink and I remembered that I could create my own character. I tapped "Eyes" and eyes shapes and colors appeared on the computer screen. I quickly picked out everything for my characters appearance, and then I had to chose what I would specialize in. The options were: Mage, Swordsman, Archer, Gunner, or Fairy. I taped my chin in thought before tapping each one, checking to see what it would give me in attacks and such. Evidently, I decided to be a Swordsman. I liked to play a frontal attacker and because I could use power ups and stuff on my sword it seemed the best thing to do. I taped OK and I watched as the world went white once again. The world then became a large gathering area like on Floor One in SAO and I smiled. I jumped off the elevated stone and started running around.
I felt like I could do anything in this game. The graphics were so real and lifelike. The breeze felt as real as the humming of birds in the distance. Then I heard an odd sound and saw a purple ball appear on the same place I had started off at. The bubble disappeared and a boy with light skin, spiky brown hair that reached just over the tops of his eyes, and a black outfit with a sword strapped to his back looked up with emerald green eyes. When he spotted me I smiled and waved. I ran over to him and he seemed slightly shocked by me. Maybe it was the long light blonde hair that reached just above my knees, or maybe it was my big purple eyes that took him aback. He walked down the steps and I tackled him to the ground. "This is so COOL!" I yelled in his ear. "AAH! That hurts Miyuki!" He yelled back. I laughed and got off him. I looked at Alexander and saw the light grey half sphere around his head that said his health, name, and level.
"You chose your name too?" I slightly questioned. I kept my name and he chose his. You could have named yourself anything you wanted to. I chose to make a different last name though. It seemed Alexander saw my small profile and his eyes widened. "Why is your last name Honoka?! It sounds weird!" He pointed an accusing finger at me. I narrowed my eyes at him. "Why don't you have one?" "Cause I didn't want one!" He retorted back. I crossed my arms and huffed. "At least I didn't cosplay." I muttered. Alexander face palmed and I smirked. "At least I don't have unrealistic hair expectations." I turned on him and clawed at his face. "Shut up! I like it long!"
"Then what's with a black and purple streak in your bangs?!"
"It matches my outfit!
"You look weird as hell!"
"At least I'm original!"We argued back and forth, tumbling around on the ground. Finally Alexander got me pinned down on the ground after five minutes of growling back and forth with each other. He held me there while we both caught our breath. "Let's go walk around and see what we can do in this game." I nodded and Alexander rolled off me. We got up and dusted off before heading through the town. I was quiet and it felt awkward. There were a few stores and street vendors out to sell you things to boost your specific skills and abilities. I had a thought. "Hey Alexander." He looked over his shoulder at me. "Yes Honoka?" I wanted to slap him. "Shut up about my fake last name. I can do what ever I want."
Alexander rolled his eyes at me. "Anyway. How do we summon the menu?" I asked holding my arms across my chest. Alex turned to me and stopped walking. I stopped as well and we stared at each other. "Shit." I nodded. Alexander face palmed. "Let's try what they do in SAO." I said and moved my left arm up. As I swished my arm down, nothing happened. Alex did the same with his right and had the same result. "Maybe it's side to side?" I questioned. I swished my left hand to the right and four white circles appeared. Alex did the same as me and we explored the menu.
We found out where we were, where portals were, different status's are and how to gain there titles, hunting, tutorials, and lots of storage that we could carry around. I didn't go through everything but I at least found that the button "Exit" was still there. Alexander and I found a portal and we set the destination to Level 1 players' hunting grounds. It was fairly easy to summon a light glow around my thin swords blade and cut down a few boars and deer. The game made our skill points go up and we both made it up to Level 2. It was still sunny out so I found a large, uninhabited field on the Flower Floor(ironically) and scrolled through the menu. "Alexander!" I yelled and shot to my feet. Alexander cried out as he had been woken from a nap at my side. It seemed we had grown quite close.
Rubbing his eyes, Alexander looked up at me. "What Miyuki? Something happen?" I flipped my menu around and showed him what I had been looking at. His eyes widened. "We have to listen to it." I nodded and took my seat next to him once again. I taped the play button and the voice recording in the mystery message started. Then a familiar voice spoke. "It seems you've forgotten my warning Miyuki. I must say, I was intrigued that you didn't pick Fairy at the beginning. I thought you would have loved what I did with it." My eyes widened. It was him. "Anyway. Now that your here, I simply have to get you to stay. What choice do I have? You wouldn't talk to me otherwise." In a flash I tapped the menu button, leaving the message on. When I reached my destination on the small screen, I felt like crying. "I'm glad you have such emotion for this game. I wouldn't think that a challenge would hurt anyone." Laughing. That's all that came out from his mouth.
"You'll find me on the hundredth floor. Or maybe before that." I could feel him snickering in his voice. "I wouldn't trust that world outside. It's not the best place for such a fragile child as yourself. Even if your parents do try to keep everything inside that safe house you call a home. The only thing is... You can die here when your health bar reaches zero." Then the man paused. My heart rate increased. "And your friend should remind himself that your mine." The message stopped dead and I could feel that both mine and Alexander's movements had also. All I could think of was getting that maniac to let us out. The exit button had been deleted of all data. "We're screwed." I passed out.
