I have been called many things during my 1602 years of life...or unlife

But nothing compares to the remarks that have been passed around throughout the halls of Monster High

Freak

Heartbreaker

Player

Weirdo

Outcast

You know you've done something bad if you're called a freak and outcast by a bunch of literal monsters

It's ironic, really

But I am trying to be a better monster, truly

However no one will take me seriously

I'm on my way to my dead languages class when the students in the halls shoot daggers at me by just looking at me

Some whisper

Some walk away

No one wants to be associated with me

I spot Draculaura with her friends

They're standing by my locker, I need to get my folder

I walk towards my locker

"Valentine what do you want?" Clawdeen growls at me

"Hm? Oh no sugar you misunderstand me, I just need to go to my lock-"

"Oh yeah sure, stay way from Draculaura!"

"But I-"

"Enough Valentine," a soft and gentle voice interrupts me

Draculaura

"I don't want to be anywhere near you," she says quietly

"I just need my folder, in fact you're leaning on my locker," I gesture at who I assume would be Frankie

She looks at my locker with the number 143 engraved on it, her eyes widen slightly

"O-Oh, I'll move," she steps aside without an apology as I step towards my locker

I open it and grab my folder

With a sigh I close my locker

"Thank you," I say coldly, more so than I intended to

I walk past them but soon I'm on the floor, face first

Laughter echoes through the halls

"Whoops! Sorry! I must've stuck my foot out," The voice of Cleo taunts me

How humiliating

I lift myself up by my hands but I see someone standing in front of me, offering me their hand

"Are you okay?" They ask

I look up to get a proper look

Oh my, this is the most beautiful boy I've ever seen:

Black spiky hair with orange and purple streaks blended perfectly through his hair

He's dressed in black and purple, contrasting beautifully with his flawless green skin

And to top it off, he has an eyebrow slit on his right eyebrow

I'm taken out of my trance when a voice interrupts my thoughts

"Hello? Are you okay?" He asks again

"Oh! Yes I'm fine," I stand up quickly, not taking his hand and brush myself off

"Sorry you had to see me like that darlin', I'm usually not as clumsy as that," I assure the boy

He responds with a giggle

I realise that I haven't seen him before

"I've never seen you here before. May I ask your name?" It's my turn to offer my hand

"Oh! I'm Spelldon Cauldronello, I'm new here," he answers, taking my hand

"Pleased to meet you darlin'," I bring his hand up to my mouth and plant a kiss on his hand

He's visibly taken aback but doesn't move his hand nonetheless

"I was on my way to dead languages when I saw you get tripped," he explains, scratching the back of his head

"Oh that? Nothing to worry about darlin', it's common courtesy when it comes to me," I say simply

"Dead languages you said?" I ask wanting to change the subject as I release his hand

"Yeah, I did. Do you happen to know where it is?" He asks, his thumb lingers around the area I kissed him

I smile

"Actually, I'm on my way there now. I could walk you there if you'd like?" I offer

It's his turn to smile

"I'd like that," he says softly

"I wouldn't go with him mate, his bad news," Lagoons tells him

We both look over at the group of ghouls

I forgot they were there

"Why? You literally tripped him up. Seems to me you guys are bad news," he counterattacks

The ghouls look surprised

"You're new so obviously you wouldn't know what he did," Cleo snaps

He dismisses her comment

"I'll decide if he's bad news or not. And so far he isn't. So kindly leave him alone,"

He turns to me

"Let's go...uhh..?" I realise while he's given me his name, I never returned the favour

"Kieran Valentine, but just call me Valentine, or Val. What ever you see fit sugar," I say with a playful wink

He laughs and we walk away together to dead languages

I think I might actually make a friend
