Pastry Cookie. With her sharp, deadly crossbow. Pixel gasped.
"H-How did you find me?!"
"I... live here. Now then, let's purify your evil soul." She said. Pixel bolted away.
"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT FROM ME?!"
"I want to save you! It's his fault, he shouldn't have made you like this!"
"YOU MEAN THAT RED COOKIE?!"
"Which one? There's hundreds!"
"THE RED COOKIE WITH THE CAKE ARM!"
"Yes, I'm talking about him! Now stop struggling and let me help you!"
"NO! EVERYONE IN THIS WORLD TREATS CAKES LIKE THEY'RE DEMONS! WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS-"
*STAB!*
Pixel flinched at the sudden pain in her leg. She... must have been shot. But t-that's not enough to stop her! She's strong! She'll be fine!
She's fearless!
She's strong!
She's invincible!
She's heroic!
She's... she's...
...
Not perfect.
She has fear.
She's not that strong.
She's not invincible.
She's not even that heroic.
...
She stopped running and faced Pastry, dropping to the floor. Pastry paused when she was about eight feet away from her.
"Out of energy?"
"I-I... I'm tired. I can't run anymore... and I'm not afraid of you." She huffed. Pastry aimed at her chest with a slight smile. A genuine one.
"Say your goodbyes, and if you wake up, you'll hopefully be a pure soul full of life and not sin." Pixel closed her eyes and...
*CLASH!*
A sword had deflected the arrow. A silver sword... with red jewels...
No. Fucking. Way.
Red Cookie had saved her?! What the hell?!
"R-Red Velvet Cookie..." Pastry stammered.
"Go on. Shoot me."
"... Hah! Gladly, you're just making this easy-"
*click*
"... Shit. Out of arrows."
"I'm warning you. Lay a hand on this child and you'll be seeing the afterlife."
"Tch, sure I will. You got lucky, I would have killed you right here." She groaned, walking away. He made sure she left before looking at Pixel.
"Uhhh... hey." She muttered.
"Are you alright?"
"... Yeah."
"But... Your leg is injured. Again."
"I'll be fine." She pulled the arrow out of her leg, holding in her screams. She then threw it.
"So... she didn't hurt you that badly?" He asked.
"No... I'm fine."
...
"Why did you save me?"
"It's my duty. I can't let a cake get harmed."
"But... I ran away. I thought you'd be pissed."
"No, it was your choice anyway. And I wasn't even going to bother finding you. I was just going on a walk."
"But... even if I am a cake, shouldn't I be purified, or something?"
"Don't worry about it, she's always saying some shit like that. Best to ignore her. Anyways, I'll get going now." He started walking away. Pixel stood up and followed.
"Hey wait, you saved me because I was a cake?"
"Yeah."
"Even if I'm a hero?"
"Yeah."
"And you hate heroes?"
"Yeah."
"Then why spare me?"
"Because," he got onto her level and looked into her reddish-pink eyes. His blue eyes seemed comforting for once. He even had a smile. "You saved my Chiffon. You're a good hero. You charged right in to save an evil, but adorable, little cake from a big, strong creature. You're a good person." Woah... that was so sweet coming from a villain!... Wait... if Pastry opposes him, does that mean she's a hero?...
Hmm... what if she joined their team...
But... that's a bad thing...
But... is it really?
The good guys didn't treat her well...
And this guy seems like he has a heart...
So...
"Hey Red Velvet," she said, looking back into his eyes.
"Yes?"
"Can I... join your side?"
"You're interested?"
"Yeah. The good guys don't like cakes, and I'm part cake, so I guess it makes sense to join!"
"Well then..." he paused, offering his hand out so she could shake it. "Welcome to the darkness!"
"Thanks! So, uh, got any free places to live? I'd rather not be homeless."
"Oh, yes. There's many places in the castle. By the way, we are very sorry-"
"It's fiiine, I've seen worse."
"Such as?"
"Well in my old kingdom I got tortured, killed several times, really badly injured, told horrible things, watched my carer die and a whole lot of other stuff."
"... I'm sorry to hear that. We'll treat you better." He sighed, walking. She followed with a limp. He noticed.
"You're gonna limp like that the whole walk?"
"Y-Yeah, it's weak to ask for help."
"No it's not." He responded, picking her up with his cake arm.
"H-Hey! I don't need help!"
"Yes you do."
