Your face becomes as pale as paper, and you feel as if you are sailing over a sea of grief.
"I-i- I could've helped-" You murmur under your breath.
You see the look of despair reflecting onto the rest of your kin's faces. You then couldn't help but fall into an ocean of tears, and a lump in your dry throat grows, giving you even more pain. You see Erika, as she weeps her eyes out with you.
"The time has come..." Your mum announces, with red waterfilled eyes, as she brushed her slim fingers through Erikas' hair, attempting to comfort her.
You break from an ocean of tears to an unstoppable and unbreakable sob. You feel crestfallen because you know you could've helped. If you got to the phone faster, if you could've just-
"It's not anyone's fault, we have done everything." She put forth as if she could read your mind.
She stood up from leaning beside Grandma Kazuko's bed and tried to brush off the few tears from her soft brown jumper. She tried to crack a smile at you, her face wanted to show hope, but deep down she knew that wouldn't be happening for a while.
"You better get ready for your volleyball." She began
"It would be terrible if you were late." She exclaimed.
"I'm not sure if I feel like going" you let out, miserably.
Her eyes widen at you, a sense of disappointment is what you can read of her.
"You get your hopes up, and now you do not want to go! You realize things like this happen all the time but you can't let it drag you down to the grave with it" She said, putting her soft, gentle hand on your shoulder.
"Go, get ready. That's an order!"
You rush to your room, trying to swipe away the inevitable, salty tears that trace wet paths down your face. Mother is sensible, most of the time. Not all, but that mattered more than 3 or 4 flukes. As you tug on your gym shorts, you hear shrieks of delight and ecstasy coming from outside your window. You head towards it, not to listen but to shut out the heartbreaking sound.
It's 8:00 AM, and you are only in your gym clothes, your appetite is long gone, and your heart is already shattered into pieces. Unrepairable.
You notice Erika peering in through your small rigid door, her iris shines through the gap as she seems to be attempting to capture a shot of you wailing.
"Go away!" You hiss, angrily at her.
Instead, she opens your door, and you see she bears puffed gazes. As if she had just had a meltdown like you did, due to this troubling matter.
She leans towards you, indicating her want to embrace you. You hesitate, your feud with Erika has lived ever since she entered the planet, but you participate in this different but comforting act.
"I better get ready," You say, implying for her to stopshe shakes, but lets go, sniffing and rubbing her eyes.
"M-m-m-mum's made you breakfast" she stutters, as you push her small body away.
Reluctantly, you force a smile, even though what goes on the surface says nothing about the inside. And you head towards the kitchen to collect your meal.
Your mother also seems to be drawing on a fake expression, as she hands your bowl of nutritious granola.
You massacre down all the food, as you realize how famished you were and how much the food nourished you.You see the paramedic from the ambulance talk to your mum and proceed to your grandma's body. You pick up your phone to see the Karusuno event table. As you scroll through their active events, you see something that catches your eye.You quickly scroll up to read it.
"Karusuno training partnership with Young Volleys. Sunday 10:00 AM at Sakura streets' local court. - We are proud to announce that a few of our skilled players at Karusuno have been gifted the honor to help instruct our coming players at Young Volleys."
Suddenly, a real smile seems to form, your eyes widen with willingness. You could meet the professional players from Karusuno!?
You dump your bowl and spoon in the metal sink and rush towards your room. If you were to meet your idol, would you want to meet them while looking like an absolute trash can? No way Jose!
You brush your silky hair and straighten your shorts and top.
"Time to go, isn't it?" Your mother shouts from the kitchen as she washes your bowl.
You check the time and notice that it is indeed time to go, so you pull on your Nike long socks and cover them with your white sneakers.
"Excellent to see you're getting back on your feet!" She announces smiling at you.
"Your dad is talking to the paramedic with your uncle, so we can leave. Are you ready?" You nod, exuberantly. As you sling your bag neatly over your shoulder, you unrestrainedly exit your house. And start to begin your journey...
