Maggie's return home for the summer was cause for celebration in the Snape household.

Severus breathed a sigh of relief that his precious little girl was once again under his vigilant protection.

Maggie gave Disencan a fond hug of sweet affection as soon as she saw the family's house elf.

She and Little Sev also exchanged a loving embrace before she began to tell her brother of her adventures at Hogwarts that she hadn't had the time to write about in her many letters.

Little Sev listened with wide eyes for a solid two hours before Maggie stopped suddenly and listened to her mother call out from her bedroom, ".........Sev?"

"Mum's awake?!" Maggie asked Severus with wide eyes.

"Your mother is awake most hours of the day." Severus quipped, "I wondered when you would ask about her."

"Can I see her, Dad?! Please?! I thought she was sleeping!" Maggie exclaimed.

Little Sev blinked as he contemplated the tragedy of already losing his sister's company again.

Severus jerked his head towards the hallway in a silent signal for Maggie to follow him before he rose from his seat at the kitchen table and stalked down the corridor towards the bedroom he shared with Harriet.

Maggie followed him in her chair with a happy smile.

Once they made it to the door, he glanced down at his eldest child and held a finger to his lips.

After Maggie nodded in understanding, Severus cracked the bedroom door open and poked his head inside.

"You called for me, my love?" He asked as his dark gaze landed upon Harriet as she lay in her nest.

"I did." She frowned.

"How may I be of assistance?" Severus questioned, "Are you in any pain?"

"No." Harriet frowned.

"Are you in need of food or drink?" He asked.

"No." Harriet said quickly, "Actually, Sev, I was just going to ask if Ma-"

"-If you are not in urgent need of assistance, there's someone who would very much like to say hello." Severus interrupted.

Harriet's breath hitched in hopeful anticipation.

In one dramatic flourish, Seveus swung open the bedroom door to reveal Maggie, who waited in the doorway with a smile on her face.

"Oh, sweetheart!" Harriet cried as she sat up and reached towards her daughter.

Although Maggie pushed herself inside the room, Severus moved quickly to reunite mother and daughter.

Before Maggie could protest, he lifted her up and placed her in Harriet's nest.

The physical closeness allowed the pair to happily hug while they began to chat.

Sensing he was no longer needed, as mother and daughter reunited, Severus smirked to himself before he silently left the room.

As he walked back into the living area, Little Sev frowned and asked, "Dad, why did you take sissy away? I've wanted to talk to her for months and now she's gone again."

"She'll return shortly, son, don't trouble yourself." Severus replied in his low drawl as he gazed down at his little boy, "I beg you to remember that you and I are not the only ones glad to see your sister."
