The tall door slowly creaked open as Yao twisted the doorknob. A gust of warm air hit your face in a comforting manner.
"Sit on the couch, I'm going to get the first aid kit." Yao began walking towards the bathroom, you could hear him shuffling through the cabinets. You anxiously bounced your leg, fear beginning to fill your body. Was he going to call the police? Was he planning to send you to a mental facility after the attempt on your life you had just made? Thoughts swirled through your head like a shaken up snow-globe. You began to feel your chest get tight, your throat starting to choke up. Before you could get up and run, Yao's comforting presence entered the room. He gently took your hand. You nervously drew your hand towards your chest before he looked at you with trusting eyes. "I won't hurt you. I promise." He said as his words ran through your head.
"Are you going to call the police...?" You asked with a shaky voice.
"No, I see no reason why I would." He said calmly.
"A mental facility?" You questioned. He could tell you were frantic for answers.
"Don't you think if I was planning to send you somewhere I would have done it by now?" He answered with a warm tone to his voice, lightly grabbing your hand once more. This time you didn't pull away. You let him bandage your wounded hands. Tears fell down your cheeks as he did, but not from the pain. "Everything will be alright." He said, pulling you close into his chest, wrapping a blanket around your cold body. "Don't cry, I'll make sure you're okay from now on." He smiled with a reassuring voice. You nodded with fatigue filling your body until you slowly began to fall asleep, leaning into his warm chest.
