As we all climbed into the car I sat next to Jeremiah. We were in the very back. The car ride was short, very short. I dont know why we even drove, the beach was walking distance.
As Conrad parked the car we all hopped out. "Come on lia!" Jeremiah said as he ran down to the bright fire. He grabbed my hand and I followed.
As we got down to the fire Jeremiah saw some friends and walked over to them, letting go of my hand. I watched him leave and walked over Belly, who was standing awkwardly near the fire.
We talked for a bit but she eventually walked further down the beach to talk to some guy. I decided to go find Jeremiah. I looked for him for about 5 minutes, but he was no where to be found.
I went further down the beach to see if he was down there. Nobody was down there though, or so it seemed. I turned to walk back up the beach, but I ran into someone.
I quickly began to apologize when I realized who it was. The cashier from the gas station. "Oh! Hey baby." He said, clearly drunk as he placed his hands on my hips.
"No, stop." I said, desperately trying to get his hands off of me. "Come on baby." He said as he began grinding against me.
"Stop! Please!" I yelled, tearing up and still struggling to get away from him. "She said stop you fucking perv!" I heard a familiar voice yell.
Everyone at the bonfire turned to look at the seen unfolding further down the beach. "Chill out bro. She likes it. Dont you baby?" He slurred, Still gripping my waist.
Jermiah ran at this guy and punched him in the jaw, knocking him down to the sand. Jeremiah got on top of him and continued to punch him as he yelled. "She doesnt fucking like it! She told you to stop!"
I ran over to Steven who was watching the scene. He pulled me into a comforting hug as I hugged him back. "Its ok Lia." He repeated as he rubbed my back.
It took 5 guys to pull Jeremiah off of the guy. As soon as he was detatched from him he ran to me and pulled me away from Steven into his embrace.
He held me close to his chest as he spoke. "Im so sorry Lia. I shouldn't have left you alone. Its all my fault."
I pulled away from his embrace. "It is not your fault at all Jeremiah." He just sighed and hugged me tighter. "Lets go." Steven said.
Jeremiah grabbed my hand and led me to the car. Belly and Steven went to go find Conrad. The car was locked and Conrad had the key so the two of us had to wait outside.
"Im so sorry Lia." Jeremiah began. "Jeremiah stop. It is not your fault." Jeremiah pulled me into another hug, which was interrupted by Conrad fumbling over to the car with Steven and Belly supporting him by holding both of his arms.
"What happened to him?!" Jeremiah laughed. "Hes as high as an astronaut, and hes had like 8 beers." Steven said as he unlocked the car with the keys he stole from Conrads pocket.
Steven and Jeremiah opened the door and helped Conrad in. Jeremiah had to drive because Conrad obviously couldnt. I sat in the passenger seat as Belly and Steven sat in the back with Conrad.
The short drive home was quiet. I caught Jeremiah glancing at me a few times with a sad look in his eyes. It broke my heart that he thought it was his fault that I was assaulted.
As soon as we got home we were greeted by my mother. Her face dropped as she saw Conrad fumble in, obviously not sober whatsoever. She immediately inspected the tall boy standing before her.
"Are you high?!" She shouted, looking into his faded red eyes. "And drunk." Conrad slurred matter-of-factly, smiling at my mom.
"Everyone go to bed, we'll talk in the morning. Im very disappointed." She said as she led Conrad into the kitchen to help him. The 4 of us slumped up to our rooms. Steven and Belly going to their separate rooms while me and Jeremiah went up to mine.
It was only at this moment that I notice Jeremiah's bloody nose, and busted lip. "Oh my gosh, Jeremiah." I said as I inspected his face. "Its fine Lia." He said.
I grabbed his hand and led him into the bathroom. "Sit." I commanded. I meant for him to sit on the toilet, but he just hopped onto the counter.
I grabbed the first aid kit to clean up his injuries. I put some acetone on a cotton round and stood beside his legs. It was hard to do what I needed to from my standing point, and I guess Jeremiah could tell that I was struggling.
"Here." He said as he opened his legs. I moved in between them and I must say, it was much easier.
I cleaned his wounds and grabbed his face to inspect it for anymore that I might've missed. I saw him look down at my lips and back into my eyes. He slowly leaned in but we were interrupted by a banging on my bedroom door.
"Goodnight!" I heard my mom yell. "Goodnight!" I yelled back as I awkwardly stepped away from Jeremiah.
"Goodnight Lia." He said as he hopped off of the counter. "Goodnight Jeremiah." I replied as I walked towards the door behind him.
He opened the door, but before he left he turned to look at me. He leaned in and kissed my cheek quickly and gently before smiling and walking out, closing the door behind him, leaving me in somewhat of a trance.
Once I snapped out of my daze I changed into my pjs and climbed into bed, falling asleep almost immediately because of the nights events.
