Hey guys....
Today I tried my hand at something different. I know it's not what you're used to from me. Still, as always, I appreciate any kind of feedback. Just let me know what you think. xo S

"Your Highness, I don't think this is a good idea. You will be recognized. It's far too dangerous." said Zela as she watched the princess browse through the many options for a costume.
"Zela.... it's a costume party. I'll wear a wig and lots of makeup. No one will know it's me. I just want to do something for once in my life without being told what to do. What's going to happen?" replied Y/N, slightly annoyed that someone was again trying to tell her what she should or shouldn't do.
"But what would your father say if he knew?" asked Zela, hoping to talk her out of her plan.
"He's not going to find out. I am an adult. You can't protect me from everything. How will I ever find my mate if I can't look for him?" said Y/N as she began to get ready for the party.
"Then at least let me accompany you. Just in case there's trouble. Or if it gets too much for you." said Zela after a few moments of silence.
She didn't want to mention it to the princess, but she was afraid that the aristocrats of the neighboring kingdom might show up at the party. They had been enemies of the kingdom of our king for many years. Nevertheless, it did not stop the younger ones from showing up and causing trouble. Other dangerous creatures could also target Y/N at any time. Especially since she still had no idea how truly special she was.

The music was loud. The bass thumped in the ears as soon as you entered the large room. Everything was colorfully decorated and people were laughing. But that didn't help Zela's tension one bit. As the keeper of the princess, she had to keep her eyes open. Not for a second was she allowed to let her out of her sight.
But of course Y/N knew that only too well. However, she did not plan to spend the whole evening with her shadow. Just once in her life, she wanted to feel normal. Or as normal as she could. The crowd of people present would certainly help her escape Zela. Even if it was only for a few minutes.
Y/N made her way through the people to the dance floor. What she didn't know was that glances followed her as soon as she entered the room. She moved lively to the exuberant music until she finally ran out of breath and urgently needed something to drink.
But on the way to the bar she bumped into someone. Embarrassed by her clumsiness, Y/N raised her head and looked into the warm, deep eyes of a man she didn't know.
"Oh my goodness. I'm so sorry. It wasn't intentional." she apologized immediately.
The stranger stared directly into her eyes. It took him a moment to say something back.
"Nothing happened, my lady. If anything, it was my fault." he replied in an impossibly deep, masculine voice.
Carefully he took her hand and lifted it to his face while holding her gaze with his. Gently, he pressed a kiss to the back of Y/N's hand before circling his thumb over the spot.
"My name is Roman. And with whom do I have the pleasure?" the man asked.
"Y/N... Just Y/N." she replied.
Intrigued by his appearance, she smiled at the man named Roman. He was a handsome man. There was no doubt about that. The way his chocolate-colored eyes shone and the way his long hair flowed over his shoulders. Almost like silk. Y/N wondered if it was just as soft. And the costume he wore reminded her of a pirate captain.
"Well just Y/N... How about a beverage?" he wanted to know.
"I'd love to. Show me the way, Sir." replied Y/N a little shyly as he still held her hand.
Y/N didn't know why, but immediately she felt the connection with this man. Almost as if she had known him all her life. The two talked for what felt like hours, yet it was no more than half an hour.
Zela kept an eye on the whole thing, of course. She had the feeling that she knew the man, but she couldn't put her finger on from where. However, her feeling told her that something was going on. But these thoughts quickly disappeared when she sensed the presence of a dark energy moving quickly towards Y/N. She was startled and made her way through the room.
Terrified, she made her way to the Princess and grabbed her arm to get her attention.
"Pr- Y/N, we have to go. Now!" she gasped, dragging Y/N as quickly and forcefully as she could toward an exit.
"Y/N? What's going on?" asked Roman as he followed them.
"You keep walking. Don't stop." said Zela quietly before turning to look around.
They had arrived in a dark corridor at the end of which was a large staircase. But she could not take another step. Zela was torn from Y/N's side. As if by magic, she flew full force against the wall and did not move.
"Zela!" cried the princess, wanting to help her friend.
But she did not get to her. Instead, she was grabbed firmly by the throat and pressed against the other wall.
"I was beginning to think I would never get the chance, Princess. But now I'm going to take your powers." rasped a darkly dressed person with smelly, dirty hair.
His bad breath washed over Y/N's face and she almost felt sick.
"I'm not... I don't have any powers... Let go of me..." she gasped as she tried to loosen his hand from her neck. But it was no use. He was too strong.
"You have them... You just don't know it yet and you won't need them anyway anymore. But don't worry... You're not dead right away... You can still tell everyone that the banished Wyatt found you. I curse you to a slow, creeping death. You alone can't escape it. Only the forbidden could, and we both know that's not going to happen. Your father would rather let you die than allow that to happen." he whispered in her ear.
He then took out a dagger. Before Y/N could react, the one who called himself Wyatt stabbed the dagger into her stomach.
"Thank you, your highness... It was my pleasure." he laughed, twisting it once more and then taking off.
Bleeding, Y/N sank to the ground. Her blood was pulsating from the wound. Everything around her faded. Only one voice reached her.
"Y/N!" said Zela as she regained consciousness.
Immediately she rushed to the princess' side. She held her hands over her wound. And then... very slowly, the blood retreated into her body. The wound closed. But something was wrong... It was the curse that prevented a complete healing. The worst fears came true.
Zela knew that there was only one thing that could save Y/N and that was the forbidden kiss.
