Waking up to Sonju shaking me awake, I yawn and take his hand as he lifts me off my back. As I stand up straight, I lean backwards to crack away the stiffness in my back.

"Good morning, Y/n. I assume you slept well?"

"Yep, and hungry. Did Mujika make breakfast yet?" I question, rubbing the sleep off my eyes.

"She has, the kids are already eating. I suggest you hurry up and get something to eat." I nod and head to the main area, where all the kids are. Thoma and Lannion run up to me hugging my waist.

"Good morning Y/n!" They greet in unison, making me chuckle at their energy.

"Good morning to you too," I smile, patting their heads. "Is there anything you need?"

"No!" I can feel Ray eyeing me suspiciously from the corner he is sitting in. Deciding to ignore him this time and walk over to Mujika.

"So when do we start training them?" I whisper in her ear.

"We start once they finish and pack their stuff. We have no time to waste." She replies. Nodding in agreement I watch as the kids chatter amongst themselves, the four eldest sitting away from the others, seemingly discussing something. Paying no mind to them, I navigate through the tunnel where Sonju placed all the training spears. While getting three of the spears, I come across my polearm that I have only used when Sonju had a blind spot, which was rare but they still trust me to keep it.

Just as I finished warming up, the kids began to enter the room. room. Almost immediately I throw the training spears at Don, Emma, and Ray which they barely catch, making me click my tongue.

"If you want to survive out there your reflexes will need some work." I scold.

"What the hell was that for?!" Don yells.

"Yeah, you could have really injured us, you know!" Ray agrees with a slight frown on his face.

"Well, I didn't injure you. Did I?" I cross my arms over my chest and give them a pointed look.

"The rest of you will be trained by Sonju on how to use a bow, since none of you are tall or old enough to use a spear." I tell everyone else, pointing to Sonju who was just down the tunnel.

"While you three," I point to the three who have spears. "Will be training with me in the meantime."

"What?!" Ray screams. Emma doesn't seem really affected, she seems excited, so does Don.

"You're not deaf Ray, I know that much. So hop to it and try your best to hit me. Just one hit." I taunt, holding my own training spear, compromising with him. Hearing him scoff, he tightens his grip on his training spear.

"Fine. If that's all I have to do." He smirks. He immediately tries to hit me head on, making me chuckle while tripping his legs.

"Nice try pretty boy, but if you are as smart as your siblings say you are, you'll need a strategy." Twirling my spear and slamming one end in the ground, I look at him with a teasing smile. I see him grimace below me so I offer him my hand. Begrudgingly, he accepts it and I pull him up with ease. Ray brushes himself as he stands and heads back to Emma's side.

"So who's next?" I ask, looking at the remaining duo. They glance between each other before shrugging. Humming, I get struck with an idea.

"How about you both go at the same time? You guys do know what teamwork is, I'm sure." I challenge them, wanting to be tested, as I am afraid I'm getting rusty.

"No thanks," Don chuckles. "I'd rather keep all my limbs intact right now." I giggle.

"Oh my, and your siblings said you were 'oh so brave'. I wonder how they would react!" I tease even more. His eyes narrow as I send him a cocky grin.

"You wouldn't want to let them down, would you?" Gritting his teeth, he steps toward me.

"Come on Emma, let's take her down!" I smile at the fact I finally have seemingly been able to provoke a reaction out of him. Don dashes to my left leaving Emma to dash to my right. Emma tries to strike my side but I side step making her almost hit Don, making his attempt at hitting my arm fail, hitting Emma's head instead. I hear her groan and Don profusely apologize. Taking this opportunity, I hit their legs with my spear, knocking them over.

"You'll need to treat me like your enemy if you want to learn anything-" I feel something touch my shoulder and look over to see Ray with a smirk on his face.

"You absolute piece of shit." I curse, disappointed that I didn't predict this.

"Got you." I groan and nod my head.

"Yeah, yeah. You did, congrats," I roll my eyes. "This is only the beginning so don't get too cocky." I lecture, turning back to Don and Emma.

"You're both fast and strong. You have potential. Don't waste it." I encourage them. They both nod uncertainty and Ray raises an eyebrow at me.

"What?"

"Aren't you going to say anything about me?" He asks with a confused look.

"No. Your ego will only get bigger which will distract you. What's important is that you know that you did good. You don't need anyone's approval to be good at something." His eyes widen slightly, he nods and looks away..

Time skip

Emma and Don pant heavily as they still have yet to land a hit on me.

"Come on, is that all you've got? How are you going to protect your siblings if you can't even land a hit on a single enemy like me?!" I exclaim, exasperated at how slow they are progressing. Granted that everyone progresses at their own rate, but they're slower than usual. Or maybe I'm going too hard on them...

"Can we take a small break?" Don puffs out. "My legs are starting to hurt."

"You get a 20 minute break, after that, we're training again until you land a hit on me," I tell them, turning to drink my water from the jar I brought with me. "I suggest you go get something to drink." They nod and go to get water.

"Your turn to train, Ray." I grin, turning to him as Emma and Don walk off to take their rest. He gulps before stretching and readying his spear.

"Bring it on." He states, more in a questioning tone than a confident tone.

"If you want to face me you need to be more confident in what you know so far. You can never predict your enemies moves and strategies until you get first hand experience. So if you aren't ready then you can-"

"No, I'm ready. Give me all you've got!" Ray seems more confident now, or maybe he was just acting. Either way, he's giving off a good, confident, image.

"If you insist." I'm not going to go all out, obviously. I don't want to seriously injure him. Deciding to strike first for once, I throw my spear to his head, making him distracted and barely able to block my punch.

"Your reflexes are getting good." I point out.

"Thanks, I guess... watching you guys helps know what you are going to do." I hum in agreement and try to kick under his legs. But this time he jumps and kicks my stomach, making me groan in pain.

"Ugh! Changing your move set huh? You're a fast learner." I chuckle in agony, holding my stomach. He lends a hand out to me.

"I have a good teacher."

"Damn right you do." I take his hand and he lifts me up to my feet.

"Are you ok?" Ray asks, slightly concerned that he may have kicked me too hard.

"Oh I'm fine, I always bounce back." I tell him, twirling my spear.

"Hm, if you say so."

Eventually, Don and Emma come back looking more refreshed and relaxed than when they left.

"Hey Y/n! I wanna try dueling you by myself!" Emma cheers, determined to hit me.

"Ok then Emma, if you really want to." I shrug, not really bothered by her request.

It went like this for the next hour with the other siblings eventually joining to watch me train these three. It was amusing when they all encouraged whoever fell to the ground to get up to pass my test, but it was also cute how much they cared for each other. It makes me miss everyone back at Tevyat but right now I had to focus.
