chapter 6

Felix woke up to the sound of his alarm. He groaned and slowly snaked his hands through the blankets to  turned it off . He nuzzled back under the blanket and tried to sleep again. But the sunlight coming through the window didn't let him to do so

He sat up on his bed, "man...i can't sleep anymore. He rubbed the back of his head and got up from bed. He looked at his mother's photo on the nightstand. "Good morning mom" he smiled at the picture.

He went to bathroom and got ready for college. He was living alone in the dorm. He took a single student dorm because he really liked to be by himself. It was a small dorm compared to a two person dorm. It had a joint living room and bedroom with a separated kitchen and a bathroom. It was small and cozy. But Felix really liked it.

He made himself breakfast and sat on the small dining table in his dorm. He was eating when he glanced up at his mother's photo, he smiled warmly as he remembered what his mother told him before she died.

"Hey mom....what's up?" Felix said to his mother with a warm smile "Felix~ my baby.....how are you." His mother smiled back. "Oh I'm fine...how about you. Are you feeling any better?"

"Ofcourse honey...look I'm all fine and i think I'll be able to get discharge very soon."

"Yeah... I know" Felix smiled at his mother but he knew this wasn't going to happen. When he was coming to his mother's ward he heard the doctor talking to his father.

"Doctor isn't there any way to save my wife"

"I'm sorry Mr. Lee but your wife's condition is getting worse day by day. I don't think she will be able to make it."

"How much....how much does she have left?"

" A month, maximum 2"

Felix  smile faded when he remembered that. He loved his mother very dearly but the fact that she is going to leave them, it was killing him inside. He felt tears forming in his eyes. He quickly wipe them before his mother could see and put on a smile. He knew he can't do anything to save her but he wanted to atleast spend these days happily with her.

"Hey mom I've baked your favourite brownies. Would you like to try?"

"Oh i would love to.."

They both started chatting about Felix's school. How Felix got a crush on a boy in his school. How he brought the courage to confess to him when he got nervous and run away.

"I know you can do this. And I'm sure he'll accept you."

"You think so?"

"Yeah...who can reject my sweet boy!!" She said and crossed her arms around her chest.

Felix giggled at her action. His mother gave a warm smile looking at her child. He was the most precious thing to her. Even though she had an older son who was working overseas. Felix elder brother Lee Haesung.

"Umm... Felix. Can I ask you something?" Felix looked at his mother on this sudden question "yes.."

"Can you go to Korea to study your college?" She asked but Felix was silent. She knew that Felix never wanted to go to Korea. He always wanted to stay near her.

"Felix I know you don't want to go to Korea but you know that I want you to know more about your culture."

"I know mom....and I will go to Korea." He smiled at her. His mother's face lit up on hearing her son. "Really?" She asked and Felix just nodded to her. "Oh Felix...thank you so much for listening." She hugged him. Felix also hugged her back "don't say that mom you know i can do anything for you."
