A/n: Grumpy x sunshine is definitely one of my favorite tropes :)
This is in honor of Valentine's Day. Enjoy <3

Everyone describes you as a ball of sunshine. They say that you radiate the color yellow because yellows a happy color and when they think of yellow, they think of you. They're not wrong though because you're always trying to be positive and happy no matter what.

The thing that really confuses them is the fact that you always hang out with Bucky. He's always in a grumpy mood, but you've managed to make him smile and laugh quite a bit. The first time you hung out with him wasn't even intentional. He was in the same room as you and you just started talking out loud, not even directly to him. You ended up saying something funny and he laughed a bit.

The next day, he walked around the compound trying to find you and when he did, he spent the rest of the day with you. And now he's your best friend.

Everyone thinks that he likes you, but you don't really pay attention to what they believe. You just enjoy your quality time with Bucky. Or you did.

A few days ago he snapped at you and called you annoying. Ever since then, you've been giving him the cold shoulder. Which surprised most people in the compound who thought you didn't have it in you to ignore someone.

Bucky's been trying to talk to you, but you ignore him. How could you ignore him if you don't talk to him? Now he's not annoyed anymore and you're fine. Really.

Sure you miss him, like a lot, but that's not important. You're taking a stand right now and that's what matters.

As you walk in the kitchen, you see him standing in it. You completely ignore him as you grab a jug of juice and a glass from the cupboard. "Doll, please talk to me," Bucky begs as he comes over and stands next to you.

You stare at the juice and don't look up at him. You feel his fingers thread through your hair and you push them away. "Please don't touch me," you say and Bucky frowns as he drops his hand.

One of his favorite things to do is play with your hair, so you telling him not to is making him see how mad you really are. "Doll... I'm so sorry for what I said. I didn't mean it I swear," he says and you shake your head.

"It doesn't matter if you meant it or not, you still said it," you say.

"What can I do to make you not mad?"

"I just need some time. My whole life I've had people tell me that I'm annoying and calling me names. I just never thought that you would be one of them. But what's done is done, so bye or whatever." You grab your glass of juice and head out of the room.

"Don't you think you're being a little harsh?" Steve asks as he walks in the gym and sees you punching the bag.

"No," you shake your head, "I think I'm going too easy on it."

"That's not what I meant." He gives you his disappointed dad face and you roll your eyes as you step away from the bag and get a drink of water.

"Bucky's a big boy, he can take me not talking to him," you say and Steve shakes his head.

"He's hurt y/n," he says and you shrug your shoulders as you look at him. "So am I," you say.

"We know."

"What do you mean you know?" You ask in confusion as you start to walk over to Steve.

"When you're happy, we can all tell. You're always lively and hugging everyone. But ever since Bucky called you annoying, you've been sad and angry. It's making everyone else feel sad and gloomy. We can all tell how much you're hurting," Steve says and you shrug again.
