Saturday, January 22, 8 a.m., Birmingham, England.

I opened my eyes in a house, which I seemed to have seen more than my own reflection these last days.

I had spent the night at Thomas's house, but not as usual. Firstly, we hadn't slept together. Strange, isn't it? Moreover, Thomas had held me in his arms all night long. And the worst part is that I appreciated this gesture much more than I should have.

I sighed and left the bed slowly so as not to wake him up.

I was not the only one who had spent the night here, many had come from far away or were too drunk to go anywhere.

So I went down to the kitchen and made as little noise as possible. Ada and Polly soon joined me.

- Hello! said Ada, placing a kiss on my cheek.

- hello! I replied by serving them both a cup of coffee.

- So, did I dream that you came out of Tommy's room?

- You were wide awake, my dear Ada. I answered.

- You are much quieter than I thought. Polly said with a naughty smile.

- That may be because we haven't slept together. I answered, biting into my toast.

Ada and Polly looked at each other, confused.

- What did you do then? asked Ada.

- We slept, he hugged me all night, which probably moved a rib or two if you must know. I say.

Again, Ada and Polly exchanged a look of a mixture of astonishment, perplexity and shock.

What the hell is going on?

I found their reaction more than a little strange, but I decided not to pay too much attention to it.

Just as Ada was about to say something, Thomas came into the kitchen and for once he was smiling, and not his usual smirk or sneer. no, a real, genuine smile.

- Good morning. He said while lighting a cigarette.

After a short discussion, he slipped away to his office.

- Did you see? He was smiling! Do you think the world is ending? Ada asked her aunt.

- I have no idea, but it scares me. She answered.
