☆~*~☆

Aki stands on his balcony, puffing out a cloud of smoke from his mouth. He had a very bad smoking habit. The devil he was in a contract with warned him that he didn't have much longer left to live. Aki knew he wouldn't die from the effects of smoking, so why stop? How would he stop?

He was super stressed from his shitty day at work earlier. Dealing with his semi-new partner and the two little shit-heads he lives with, isn't exactly the easiest thing. Aki has had loads of responsibility weighing him down. A ton of other small and stupid things would just ruin his days.

Something as simple as losing an earring, not getting his hair right, forgetting something, etc. would just completely throw his mood out the window.

Aki took a few more puffs, getting bored of the same view, smells, sounds, and touch. He placed his cigarette in the ashtray on his balcony and made his way to the sliding, glass door. He opened it carefully, being mindful of the other idiots. Aki walked back to his room and threw himself onto his bed. He was so done.

Aki pulled up every layer on his bed and climbed inside. He sighed and drifted off to sleep.

Or so he wished.

About a good 20 minutes of occasional shuffling and shifting happened while Aki lie awake, but nothing else.

All he could think of was work. Paperwork, fighting, loss and gain of partners, contracting devils, everything. He thought the somewhat recent contract he made with the Future Devil was pointless. Aki truly believed this devil had no purpose and certainly didn't seem to be helping him at all.

This was part of the reason why Aki hated devils.

☆~*~☆

Aki dreadfully walked into the office with Denji and Power in tow. None of them had eaten breakfast, since Aki didn't sleep and was too tired to make anything.

It was quite ironic how the exhausted boy took his time and energy to walk to work instead of his usual drive. Power and Denji were not happy about it and made that very clear to Aki on the way there. The constant bickering between the two, combined with making fun of Aki left a bitter taste in Aki's mouth.

Aki left the two gremlins be as he made his way toward the elevator. He had a meeting with Makima that morning. He would rather be dead or in serious pain than the mental suffering he put up with every day. Aki's brain was about to explode. He had to prevent himself from letting all of his emotions burst, especially during work. They were all crammed into a bottle far too small.

The elevator dinged as Aki reached Makima's floor. Step. Step. Step. Aki couldn't take it anymore. Step. Step. Step. His body wouldn't let him. Step. Step. Step. Get it over with.
