Chapter 5

Once leaving Master Fu's place with their new information gathered they head to Wayne Enterprise, the walk is quiet as both are still processing this new information. "I can't believe we both have magic..." Adrien whispers mostly to himself. Marinette hums in agreement before stopping.

"It's hard to believe you didn't know, most people of magic heritage have some idea that they are special. Magic families try to keep it going, yeah know. It makes sense that I didn't know, I grew up on the streets, no family, no friends, not even a cardboard box to keep me company. However I did see magic users and they always came in packs, like wolves. Even the ones who wanted to be alone had friends" She says staring at the sky, a distant look in her eyes, 'almost sad' Adrien thinks, but Marinette doesn't do sad, she is hard, and has nerves of steel.

"Well actually since my mom disappeared my father hasn't really been there, so I guess that's why I didn't know about my magic." Adrien says, drawing Marinette's attention to him. "What about before your mom disappeared? Or is that going too far where you don't remember." Adrien smiles sadly, "No I remember, sometimes I wish I didn't but I do. No, she never mentioned anything. She used to say that the only magic in the world was the family we made, but I think that was her just being a mom."

Marinette laughs before knocking shoulders with him, "Come one, we're gonna be late for practice if we aren't already," Adrien knocks back smiling before they start their journey. "We should probably find a place to transform too," he says before running off to the Wayne building where the Zeta tubes are waiting for them.

Batman watches as members of the Young Justice train with each other. Robin and Spoiler sparring, so far Robin has won twice and Spoiler once. Superboy and Wonder Girl spectating, making comments on form and mostly placing bets, while Impulse runs on a treadmill nearby snacking.

He then turns to his watch and notices that Chat Noir and Ladybug are now 25 minutes late. Right as he is about to call them on their communicators he hears it.

"A-23 Ladybug.... A-25 Chat Noir" A robotic voice rings out, a light follows with both of them stepping in. Chat Noir looks nervous, mostly at being late, while Ladybug just glares at him.

'That girl seriously reminds me of Jason' He thinks

"You're late"

"We were following a lead, the old guy told us he's teaching us magic, apparently it runs in our blood." Ladybug says handing a small voice recorder to Batman, "Here's the conversation if you don't trust me." He hums but pockets the device, "In the changing rooms are suits with masks to hide your identity, I want you guys to train out of suits. This way we know where you stand non powered."

Both teens nod and head off to their respective changing rooms. Both teens come back with normal workout gear and masks similar to Robin's. On their way back to Batman Chat and Impulse fist pump and Ladybug waves at Robin distracting him enough for Spoiler to tackle him, winning their match.

Ladybug giggles before standing in front of Batman, he narrows his face at her, and she glares right back. "For being late, run a lap, after that a quick water break. Then I want Chat Noir to Fight Spoiler and Ladybug you'll be righting Robin. This way I can figure out where you each stand. Go."

Both teens nod before starting their lap. Batman watches, he notices that Ladybug is much faster than Chat Noir but kinda limps when she runs she also seems to be better at regulating her breathing. Chat is the opposite, He runs more sturdy and like someone who jogs often, but he seems to be getting winded. He takes notes of this for later, Ladybug most likely has a childhood injury that didn't heal properly.

Once finished both kids watch the others train and notice just how behind they truly are. Robin is twirling a bo staff and hits it against Spoiler's before both jump back to hit again. Superboy and Wonder girl at some point started their own match and both are fighting fiercely. Chat winces as Wonder Girl gets slammed into the mat before jumping right back up and roundhouse kicking Superboy into a nearby wall. A red blur flies past them and it takes a moment for them to register that it is Impulse just running circles around the room.
