"Ugh....." I groan in pain. I try to sit up but I am pushed back down. "Don't move young one! You are still injured terribly." I hear a man say. I can't see him but I think I know who he is. "Are you the man who saved me from that creature?" I say weakly. I finally am able to open my eyes and see the same flame haori that I saw when that man saved me. "Yes. I am the one who saved you from the vile demon that trashed your home and attacked you!" He says loudly. "The injuries you sustained are not going to heal for a while. But no worries! My good friend Shinobu will care for you!" I begin to remember what happened the other night. "That demon... Hm." I hiss a little as I shrug my shoulders in disregard of my injuries. "I have to depart now but I will return to check your health." The man in the flame haori then got up, and walked out the door. A person knocks on the door then comes in. This person is a woman, but she wears a butterfly patterned haori that starts off white, then fades into a light blue and pink. She walks over to me and sets down a bowl while kneeling down next to me. "Darling! I'm here with some soup. It will help you heal faster." I look at her and assume she is the man's friend. "..." "What was that man's name?" She looks at me intently. She contemplates an answer before speaking. "His name is Kyojuro Rengoku. He is the Flame Hashira of Demon Slayer Corp." I ponder at the name "Demon Slayer Corp." "Demon Slayer Corp?" I question. She looks like she is hesitating to answer me but begins to speak.  "Yes. The Demon Slayer Corp is a corporation that slays demons to keep society safe. You were attacked by a low level demon, not one that was to important." She says sternly. "You have two choices. Join us, or go back to living alone as a child." "How did she know I wasn't an adult?" I begin to remember my life before this.

"GET OUT OF MY HOUSE! You worthless piece of garbage." My mother wasn't the best at understanding much. So when I had broken the urn full of her mother's ashes, she wasn't to happy. I was cleaning it up when she walked in on me. Ever since her mother passed, nothing had been the same. She stopped talking to me and began binge drinking. She didn't even take me to school, but instead drank until she passed out. My father had been taken away from us for unknown reasons. I was 8 when she kicked me out. I'm seventeen now, and my birthday is in three months. The celebration of me being a worthless piece of garbage. I stopped caring about most things, going to work and then heading to sleep. An endless cycle of suffering.

"Are you alright?" I hear a woman say. I snap back to reality as I touch my face and it's wet. Not from water, but my very own tears. "Huh?" I say aloud. "Why are you crying?" The woman asks. I think of an excuse but I dismiss the thought. She is very observant as she waits for an answer. "I was thinking about my life before this happened. I was put out of my home as a child and I've been living on my own ever since." She looks at me, keeping a neutral look. "I'm sorry she did that to you. It must have been awful." She says. I see right through the fake words. "It's ok. Sorry for making you uncomfortable." I shrug my shoulders in hopes of dropping the subject. She thinks for a while and then gets up. "I will return soon. Drink your soup in the meantime." She walks out of the room quickly, leaving me with my thoughts. I begin to think about joining the Demon Slayer Corp. "If I join them, I won't have to worry about working my old job with my piece of crap boss. Hm." I ponder on my decisions and I pick the latter one. It seems easy, so why not join? "I will join the Demon Slayer Corp."
