Ao'nung's PO V

I can't be letting myself think like that. She's a forest Na'vi, a complete stranger in our land, who's only come here to keep herself safe. She's only here seeking protection, and I barely know her. I sat dwelling in my thoughts, until Tsireya clapped her hands. "That concludes our lessons today!" she smiled.

I sighed, pushing myself off my rock, preparing to swim back home. I watched, one by one, as the Sully's clambered into the water, chattering amongst themselves. I waited for them to be in the water, before I dove in after them. I swam slower than I usually did, taking in the scenery, and the way Y/n's family was still thrilled to see the colorfulness of the sea.

Tsireya and Rotxo slid into the water, quickly catching up. They swam by my side, signing to each other.

"They're learning well," Tsireya signed.

"Kiri especially," Rotxo agreed.

I rolled my eyes. "Can you not go a minute without mentioning her?"

He rolled his eyes at me, smiling. I could tell now that he was looking at Kiri, watching her swim. She touched every piece of marine life she could get her hands on. It was quite a sight, seeing all the different Sully's reactions to the sea. Lo'ak was minimally interested. He only cared if it was something extremely interesting. Neteyam seemed to care about anything Tuk cared about. She would drag him about pointing at little fish and collecting shells. My eyes left Kiri for a moment and she was gone. Where could she have gone? My eyes scanned the area, falling on Y/n. I signed to her, "Where is Kiri?"

Y/n had very minimal sign language skills, but knew most of her alphabet, now. She turned her head, shrugging. She didn't seem too worried about her, so I figured I could safely brush it off.  We all swam to shore, Tsireya going out to hunt today, and Rotxo and I were going home to finish our house chores. He went back to his marui, but I still had a longer walk to go. My friends joined up with me on my way home. We liked to walk the long way, by the shallow part of the water. We playfully shoved each other, talking about having to train the Sully's. They weren't the biggest fans of them being here. We spotted Kiri, with her face submerged in the shallow water. My friend nudged me, pointing at her. I knew what he was planning. I smirked.

"What are you a freak?" I said, walking over to her with my posse.

She must have seen the sand move, because she raised her head. "What?"

My friend repeated me, "He asked if you were a freak?"

We laughed, trading looks at eachother. She looked confused. I opened my mouth to pry more, but Lo'ak and Neteyam turned the corner, seeing us. Lo'ak looked pissed. I would have been scared, but we outnumbered them by quite a bit. Lo'ak trudged over to our group, shoving me away from Kiri. "Get away from her," he shouted. This would be fun.

Y/N's POV

"It's called a punch, bitch!"

I heard shouting on the beach, all the way from our marui. I ran to where the noise was coming from, finding my brothers trying to beat up Ao'nung and his friends. They were getting their asses kicked. I sprinted over to the fight, just in time to see Lo'ak splitting Ao'nung's lip. I looked to Kiri for support, but she just looked frantic. I was honestly surprised that Neteyam had got drug into it. I shoved Ao'nung off of Lo'ak, hissing at him. He looked like I'd hurt him. My ears were flat against my head, partly because of the anger, but also because he looked so hurt. I almost felt bad.

They'd stopped throwing punches, Neteyam walked over to Lo'ak and I, his hair swinging in his face. He had a gash on his lip, but he gathered us up and we went home. Kiri fell behind a bit. I think she felt partially responsible. I placed a hand on her back, falling into step with her.

Dad was mad, he yelled at Lo'ak, and sent him to apologize to Ao'nung. Something about him being the chief's son. I understood. We needed to stay on Tonowari's good side, because he could make us leave. "How did the other guys look?"

He smiled, "Worse. A lot worse."

He started walking towards Ao'nung's marui. It sucked that we'd only been here less than a week and Lo'ak was already in trouble. He was just trying to protect Kiri. He wasn't in the wrong at all, but we really needed to be able to stay here. It just wasn't far. As his big sister, I wanted to defend him, but from a logical point of view, he needed to apologize.

I spotted Lo'ak riding an Ilu towards my friends and I, his face all busted up. I snickered and nodded towards him, silently pointing him out. I rubbed the bruise on my face tenderly. I can't believe he hit me. No, I can't believe the look Y/n had on her face. It was his fault. I looked at my friends as he rode up, silently forging a plan. "I'm sorry I hit you," he hesitated, "so many times.

"It's all good brother," I paused, "We were going to go hunting outside the reef. Want to come?"

"We're not allowed outside the reef."

"My bad! I must have asked the wrong brother," Ao'nung said looking at his friends, smiling.

"Let's go."
