One day when the boy got home from school he saw an ambulance outside his home. he ran inside to try to find someone but no one was there, it seemed like they took his uncle away. He ran back outside to find his mother standing by the ambulance. Within the ambulance was his grandma. She stopped taking her medicine in an attempt to leave them. This caused her to have a stroke which paralyzed half of her body.

The boy did everything he could to see her in the hospital. When he arrived he got to see her, Sadly the boy has forgotten what happened when he saw her.

The boy and his mother moved to a small community with his grandma after words. In the community they had chickens, goats, and even ducks. Him and his mother built all of the pens themselves. The boy had to take care of his grandma sometimes while his mother worked. He would make her food and do his best to take care of her.

During this time he met a friend named Barry. Barry and the boy were best friends and did many dumb things together. They would ride their bikes through the ditches and ride their scooters through the streets. The two boys spent much of their time together.

However one day the police came while he was playing with his friends. One of the officers drove up to his friend asking for the boy by name. His friend quickly told them where the boy was. The officer pulled up beside the boy asking for him to get into the vehicle. The boy had no idea what they wanted so he told them he would walk home and that he didn't like getting in random peoples cars.

The boy started to walk home when another police car pulled up and forced him to get in. He saw his mother getting clothes for him and crying a lot while doing so. All the boy could see was her giving the officers his things. The officer driving the car asked the boy if he wanted a cookie. The boy declined and asked what was happening, but she wouldn't tell him anything about where they were going. The boy began to cry and worry if he was ever going to see his mother again. He didn't even get to say goodbye to her.
