Superman confesses his feelings, but Batman just having Jason killed by the joker is in the height of repressing his feelings dodges the confession, smoke bombs and grapples away. That week darkseid attempts to invade earth, and in the fight superman falls victim to lex luthor who used the opportunity to take superman down mid battle. Superman is laying on the ground, lex having been out down by Batman after a small battle, his dying from kryptonite crystals that's have shattered in wounds and entered his body. Batman gets to him first and attempts to save him but there's nothing he can do, he shouts in rage and actually begins to show genuine emotion again, but regrettably the emotion is one too similar to what put him on his path as Batman before. They share a touching moment, where Batman confessed his love and they share a tender moment, finally kissing before superman passes in his arms. The battle was practically finished before lex killed him so the rest of the league where able To fight off the invasion and return to batman, holding superman lifeless body, crying rivers of tears holding his loves body. Months pass and they've had the memorial for superman, his been buried at the Kent farm and Batman has been pushed into therapy by dick. His grown a bit as a person and has let love and other emotions start to be felt again, so that he wouldn't regret a mistake being made like he did with superman. An alert is sounded on his watch, it's from Alfred? He goes to the cave and Alfred tells him he has something to tell him, while cleaning the cave he saw an alert for a kryptonian who'd been found flying near the fortress of solitude, Batman leaves right away to investigate. He finds the door has been opened, barely though. Walking through he finds little piles of dirt occasionally along the floor, following them until he walks into the atrium, to see a man standing where superman costumes are kept, wearing one of them. In a blind rage he attacks the man only to be Stopped rather quickly, he heard a familiar voice tell him that they don't need to fight, looking up slightly too see the face of superman, who after recovering underground had mysteriously come back to life. Bruce slowly wells up, tears fall in that moment all of the resenement for bimself he felt over his death, all the anger and sadness and pain washes away, he stampers a step before grabbing Clark, without saying any words, holding him tight. So tight that superman even begins to feel a bit pressured. Tight enough for him to feel like he will never leave him again. And then they smooch
