The perspective

The perspective is a crucial element because it determines how the story is narrated, thus impacting on the readers insight of the story. So here we have the four narratives:

• 1st Person (I,me,we.)

• 2nd Person (You,yours, yourself.)

• 3rd Person/3rd Person omniscient (She,he,they,them.)

Now,some perspectives might cause a bit of confusion.

First person involves the pronouns I,me,we and stories written in that perspective, the author PRETENDS to be the character they're writing as. For example: "I rushed down the hill, tucking my long, loose strands of frizzy ginger hair behind my ears."

Second Person I've only ever seen used in fanfiction, and some visual novels. Now that we have the second person POV definition covered, here's an example: "You feel your heart race, and the air around you seems to crystalize. But the only way forward is to move your feet." The text directly addresses the reader, bringing them into the action of the plot.

Third Person is used in pretty much every single genre, making it so common. The third-person point of view belongs to the person (or people) being talked about. The third-person pronouns include he, him, his, himself, she, her, hers, herself, it, its, itself, they, them, their, theirs, and themselves. But the difference between Third person and Third person omniscient is thatThird-person omniscient shows us what many characters in the story are thinking and feeling; third-person limited point of view sticks closely to one character in the story. Using third-person limited point of view doesn't mean you tell the story entirely from the one character's perspective using I.
