I stepped towards the door but the two women blocked my path. "Excuse me, ladies" I said with a fake smile. When they didn't move, I dropped my smile. "Sorry, maybe you didn't hear me. I said excuse me." I calmly spoke. They didn't budge an inch. I swore under my breath. "MOVE!" I yelled as I pushed the two women aside. I ignored their gasps as I ran down the hallway in pursuit of the woman. I heard Sherlock, John and the rest of the gang follow me. I just managed to catch a glimpse of the woman before she flung herself over the garden fence and into the alleyway. I put my hand out to stop me from crashing full speed into the fence. "UGHH!" I yelled in frustration. "She's hopped the fence!" I yelled as Sherlock came running up behind me.
"And?" he said. I was perplexed. I mean, surely see he didn't expect me to be able to get over a fence that was about a foot taller than me? Without warning, I felt Sherlock's hands grab me from under my arms and launch me over the fence. When I landed on the other side, I brushed myself off and looked for Mrs Norton. A man walking his dog pointed me in the right direction. I trusted his word and ran full speed down the alleyway. I just managed to spot Mrs Norton turn the corner, I was sure I was going to lose her so I upped my pace. I was only a few metres behind her now. I heard Emily yelled my name as she tried to keep up with me. I was determined to catch the woman. I heard Sherlock's coat swishing behind him, closely followed by Peggy. They suddenly overtook me. Within seconds, Sherlock grabbed Mrs Norton's shirt collar and lifted her off her feet and slightly into the air. Peggy bit her trouser leg and tugged it violently.
"Well lookie who it is." said Sherlock smugly. " Mrs Norton is it? Don't bother answering that of course you are. Honestly, you don't particularly look like the murderous sort but there again, don't judge a book by it's cover!" he snorted. Emily jogged over to us out of breath. Before she could get her breath back, Sherlock took his phone out of his pocket and threw it to Emily. "Call Lestrade and tell him we've got her." he ordered.
"Eye-eye captain" giggled Emily. I approached Mrs Norton who was still being detained by Sherlock. I noticed something in her pocket. I took the object from her. It was a small gun. "Semmerling?" I asked Sherlock as I showed him what I had found.
"Uhh yeah, Semmerling LM4 I think," he answered. "Bit of a thing for American pistols, eh? Not very patriotical hmm? Just out of interest, are you a Tory?" questioned Sherlock. The woman looked at him puzzled and nodded. "Mm, you look it. Not surprising really although I assumed you'd use a British made weapon, because, y'know," he slightly whispered the next bit,"you don't like anything foreign." I chuckled quietly to myself.
"Alright, you. Stop voicing your political opinions for one minute please!" uttered Emily. "How do we know that's not the murder weapon?" questioned Emily as she gestured towards the gun.
"Well," I answered,"the easiest way to find out is by doing this!" I exclaimed. I walked over to Mrs Norton and made direct eye contact with her. I hoped I would look slightly more intimidating if I did this. "Now, answer me honestly," the woman recoiled slightly, "is this the murder weapon?" I inquired.
"N-no…" she stuttered.
"You sure?" I asked. This time she answered with more certainty. "Yes. This one was for self protection. I knew the police would be onto me any day now I just didn't know it would be this soon. I thought I'd been so clever. I thought it would have taken them longer to figure it out. I thought that I might just get away with it..."
"Fool." muttered Sherlock under his breath. I drew myself away from her and looked up at my dad.
"She's telling the truth." I bluntly spoke.
"Does this mean that there's another gun somewhere that really is the murder weapon? asked Emily. I nodded.
"God. Could your dad take any longer?" whined Sherlock. "Peggy. Get off! Off! Off! Off! Off the nasty lady. I know, I know! She's evil! But you need to get off her!" Sherlock always baby-talked to the dog. It's like he would transform into a completely different person. "I'm getting bored." complained Sherlock as he looked at my cousin.
