"let's go!! you wanna get driven to the library you better hurry your ass up!" my dad screamed from the other side of the house. My miserable father screaming is a perfect way to start this chapter right?  I was trying to get my converse on as fast as I can but anyone who owns a pair would know the struggle.

"You try putting these on.." I whispered under my breath. I would've of made sure he could hear it but starting with him right now wasn't the best idea.

Once I finally got them on I jumped up and sped walk to the door to see my dad impatiently waiting in his truck. Even though I could only see him from a distance I could tell how annoyed he was with me. He had already started the car so the sound of the engine was practically screaming at me.

I got into the front seat and silently buckled my seat belt and immediately put my air pods in. The library was like five minutes away but anyway to stop having a conversation with my father was fine. Most car rides with my dad were dead silent unless he was screaming at me. The only thing I could hear was my 48 hour playlist blasting. Probably damaging my hearing more then it already is.

The song I was listening to ended as my dad pulled into the parking lot of the library, honestly not many people were ever at the library but it's my safe space , it's so peaceful and comfortable. Today I wasn't just going to go I had to find a book for my english essay that I talked about yesterday remember?

I glanced at my father who was tapping his finger up and down on the steering wheel. Probably waiting for me to get out so he can go home and sit his ass on the couch and do absolutely nothing while my mom ran around like a crazy women. I mentally rolled my eyes before hopping out of the vehicle without saying a goodbye.

I observed the old building, nothing different then it ever was, an practically empty parking lot, cracks in the concrete with grass and dead weeds growing in them, the small rectangular building that was made out of bricks looking like it went through the trenches, moss growing vertically up the withered library, and finally the clear glass push not pull door sitting directly in the middle. The door was the most lively thing about the place it was the most clean as well. The door had colorful posters plastered all over the door talking about upcoming events in the next week or two.

I walked in and immediately my nose was blessed with the smell of books and coffee, a lot of people came to do work or study here so the scent of coffee always lingered around the place.

I silently greeted the kind librarian with a soft smile usually I would try to avoid conversation with people but he and I shared a close bond. He knows me like the back of his hand it's kinda scary, his name is Emerson Wood but i just call him Mr.wood. Mr.wood is an old man in his 60s I believe...the funny thing is he knows so much about me but I barely know anything about him. All I know is his wife died a few years ago and he used to be a surgeon before he retired and took over the library.

"Welcome back miss L/n."he greeted me with the most the kindest smile I had ever seen, his voice was croaky but he sounded happy nonetheless.

"I missed this place." I commented as I took in the comforting air that surrounded the old building. There was a light sound of chatter and the place was mainly made out of dark wood, it almost reminded me of an cabin. There weren't many lights on and the blinds were closed because it was a  rainy day so most of the light came from the candles that were lit and the fire place that kept the library all warm and cozy.

"Child you were here just yesterday." Mr.wood noted as he gave me an confused look, I observed the old man standing behind the library counter. His hair is long and thin, thin to the point that he has multiple bald spots. His hair is a light silvery gray that is always pulled back into a low pony tail. He has wrinkles all over his face just as any old person does, his eye bags were prominent but his weren't because of lack of sleep but because he was aging. His skin is pale and he almost looked like a vampire, His eyes are emerald green and I swear they are the most beautiful eyes to exist I remind him everyday.
