***Sorry for jumping around in the story a bit but I was super excited to write this scene. Starting to dive a little more on the darker side and will likely continue as the story progresses. Will probably go back and write some scenes leading up to this but just wanted to get this part down while it was fresh in my head.***

Shannara "Shay"

The smell of burning wood filled my nostrils. I could see the panic in Sebastian's eyes as he saw the dark plumes of smoke settling over Feldcraft.

"Anne." He whispered before tearing off in the direction of his village.

I was close on his heels the sky becoming darker under the black cloud that hovered over us. He moved so fast I could barely keep up. Adrenaline coursed through me as I noted dark figures moving throughout the village. They were too small to be human which meant... Goblins were in Feldcroft.

Sebastian and I crested a hill that gave us a view of the chaos below us. Some of the villages fought back. Others ran and some tried to hide. The goblins must have taken them by surprise. I saw a few figures lying on the ground motionless. I looked away not wanting to focus on them, instead focusing on the people I could still protect.

We jumped into the fray. I lost sight of Sebastian and knew he must have gone to find Anne. I saw a few villagers that were being cornered by a group of Goblins and rushed to try and help. I felt nearly frenzied as I cast spell after spell. Not able to think but relying all on instinct and muscle memory.

"It's her!" One of the goblins shouted pointing at me in the middle of the cornfield. The others took note and swarmed me. It was nearly overwhelming.

I couldn't seem to go back on the offensive as more and more goblins seemed to join the fray. Each time I would finish one off, another would join in. At this point I was just trying to focus on dodging and blocking all of the attacks. I needed to stay on my feet and not go down. If I fell they would be on me in a second.

An axe came flying at my face forcing me to dive under it. Before I could recover, I had to raise my wand to protect myself from an incoming arrow. It had been shot from a rooftop nearby. My shield then shattered under the power of another axe that swung from behind me. The blast sent me hurtling forward. My shield had stopped the worst of the blow but it still knocked the wind from me. I rolled to my side, knowing I couldn't stay still. I managed to cast Levioso on another troll that had started to charge me, but before I could finish him off I had to scramble to the side to avoid another arrow. I managed to move to my feet only to find myself surrounded. One of the goblins gave me a sinister smile.

"No where to run now." He sneered at me. He lifted his axe, the dark magic swirling around him and making his eyes turn a bright red. The other goblins all laughed. I widened my stance, ready to try and hold my position. As long as the goblins were here with me it meant that Sebastian and Anne might be safe. I would protect them.

"Your blood will be on Ranrok's hands!" I snarled back at him. I cast Depulso  at him making him fly backwards into another goblin. They all rushed me again. I continued my defense.

"Protego."

"Stupify. "

Dodge.

"Levioso."

"Protego."

My only thought was surviving this onslaught. I turned and raised my arm to a goblin that had moved to try and flank me.

"Bomba- Ah!" I felt my flesh tearing as an arrow cut along my side. I clutched my abdomen, feeling warm liquid starting to drip down my leg.

"Protego!" Another arrow bounced off of my shield. My adrenaline was too high to feel most of the pain, but I knew it would hurt later.
