Korey turned as a gunshot rang out, the bullet hit the concrete wall of the alleyway.

"Haha looks like we finally captured a Himura," Korey looked at them and noticed the symbol on there arms, a gang that hates the Himura family.

"Looks like we caught the baby of it, look doesn't the wimp of the family have a cute little cub protector," they both laughed. Korey glared and Joey growled, his fur standing up on end. Korey was scared her siblings had always warned her to avoid these people.

"Hey little girl, why don't you come with us," One and the biggest said stepping forward, his hand reaching for her. Joey growled and bit his hand as he got close enough.

"Bitch," he yelled hitting Joey with the butt of his gun. Joey jumped back avoiding being hit.

"You're going to pay for that," he yelled, but he didn't aim at Joey, he aimed at Korey and fired. Korey screamed and fell to the floor. She could tell it only niched her side, but with her defect she started bleeding out heavily.

Feeling dizzy, Korey heard a roar. She forced her eyes open, to see Joey glowing.

"J-jj-jojo-o," she said looking at him as he glowed seemingly in pain. His head turned towards her, she could practically see him scared, for him or her she didn't know. But then his eyes turned to rage, he glared over at the gangsters and roared again.

Korey noticed something changing, Joey's body glowed brighter and his body started to change. Joey's body glowed and expanded tell he was the size of a full grown tiger. Joey jumped and attacked the gangsters. Korey's eyes closed again, and when she found the strength to open them all she saw was the gangsters in their own blood.

But Joey wasn't there instead there was a teen, with spiky orange hair and a hoodie, with black jeans. He turned and looked at her, his eyes were a mix of black, green, and blue, Korey felt she was going to get lost in them. But right now those eyes were worried, and destroyed by the teens blood splatter face.

He walked over and Korey couldn't find the strength flinched away. He kneeled down and put his hand near her wound. Then she heard him speak in a comforting voice, a voice like melted chocolate.

"Don't worry I promise you'll be okay, you have to be. You took me in when my mother died. You kept me save, you fought to keep me when they tried to separate us. Please be okay," Korey could feel herself blacking out, but before she did, a warm surrounded her, taking all the pain away, it comforted her and almost lulling her to sleep. She forced her eyes opened again. The teen was looking at her in concern, his hand hovered above her wound glowing softly.

"Korey I promise you'll be okay, I'm here to protect you just like you've alway done for me. You've definitely earned this," with that Korey blackout...for good.

But the teens continued to glow, and Korey's wounds started to heal. After a minute it disappeared completely. He reached down and picked her up, cradling her to him carefully.

"Don't worry now your safe and you won't ever have to worry again i'll make sure of it," he said softly.

He carried her home glaring at everyone, that looked at Korey. Getting back to her house he walked around back toward the forest. Looking up at the house he turned, ran, and jumped onto a patio on the second floor. Setting Korey down for a second, he reached over and opened the window. Climbing into the room, he reached back out and picked Korey up again, taking her inside. Walking over to a bed with a cat bed beside it, he set her down and pulled the emerald covers over her. He got up and walked away for a little to handle other matters.

When Korey woke up she was back in her room. She looked at her side to see the wound wasn't there. Looking up she noticed the shower was just being turned off.

Out walked the teen from earlier, he still had on black jeans, but his hoodie was missing. Looking at his hair she noticed that the spiky-ness that was there before had disappeared, because of the water. Then she also noticed that two spiked tuffs still showed, looked closer she realized they were ears, cat ears!

He still hadn't noticed her, he walked over to the desk were some clothes were sitting. First he pulled a black tank top on, then a green hoodie over it. Taking the towel that had previously been around his neck he dried his hair, and it immediately all of it spiked up again. Reaching for a case on the desk, he opened it and pulled on a pair of thick framed glasses. Now that the towel was removed Korey can see a black and red spiked collar around his neck, with some little charm hanging off.

Korey finally noticed the clock and it read that it was already noon.

"Huh, good your awake," Korey screamed and jumped.

"Who are you," she asked glaring at him for scaring her.

"Humm, you know me, I'm Joey," he answered smiling as he walked over.

"What you can't be Joey, Joey's my cute little baby and you...you're..."

"Human," he said, then looked up at his hair, "ish." He said smiling. She glared at him and he laughed more.

He sighed looking questioningly, "Maybe this will help," he said. His whole body started glowing, forcing her to look away. When the light went down to the point she could look, standing were the teen, Joey, was she saw a fully grown golden tiger, like an adult version of Joey.

"J-jj No," Korey said disbelievingly. The tiger purrs, almost sounding like a laugh. The tiger practically stagers up to Korey, resting his head in her lap. Korey reached out, running her hand through his hair. The purring started again and Korey smiled. He stepped back, away from her and changed back.

"You believe me now," He smiled, Korey nodded.

"But why do you have a human form," Korey asked. Joey walked over and sat down with his back to Korey. Laying back his head once again went to her lap, looking up at Korey. She reach over and ran her hand through his hair, petting his ears, as he purred.

"This," his hand reached up to touch the crystal.

"When a mythical beast has a child and the parent dies when the child is born. They shed a tear that has the last of their power in it. This crystal seals away the child's power so that they can grow up normally, but the parents also give their child to someone they trust to protect. This is the tear my mom shed," he said tapping the crystal.

"It's also the reason your father fought to let you keep me, you're the person my mother trusted, your father kept the crystal so that my power didn't randomly return. It would only return when we were both strong enough to fight," he said smiling.

"S-so my Father knew you were actually a mythical beast?" Korey said, her hand pulling slightly at his hair.

"Mmmhmm, He just wanted to protect you from the magic world for a bit longer, but something must have happen to make him send you this. There is no such thing as a child of a mythical beast, that isn't one," He said purring as Korey pett his ears.

"Wait does that mean something happened to my father," Korey said looking nervous, seeing this Joey's eyes widened.

"Hey it's okay, i'm sure it wasn't anything he could handle," Joey said reaching a hand up to the side of her face, trying to calm her down. Korey took a couple of deep breaths to calm herself, then smiled and nodded.
