I unlocked my door and was greeted by my dad. "Hi, honey." He said. "Hi." I mumbled. "What's wrong?" He asked, his voice full of sincerity. "Well, I met this boy named Jack. He was nice when I met him and when I saw him again, he ignored me and walked away." I said. "You'll make friends." "Dad, this is my last year and first year and so far I've hated it." I said. He sighed.
"I know lia, but we can't move again." He said. I groaned and walked upstairs. I turned on my tv and sat down on my bed. I unlocked my phone, seeing if I could text anyone. Oh wait, I have no friends. I threw my phone across the room in frustration and started crying.
I don't know why this is happening, I didn't hurt these people why do they hate me? Oh yeah, it's because I'm black. But black is beautiful, right?
My door opened and I looked up, barely seeing anything. "Oh, Mahlia." My dad said. He picked me up off the floor and hugged me, helping calm me down.
I stopped crying and he let go. "Mahlia, there is nothing I can do." He said. I sighed in defeat and laid back on my bed. I hope tomorrow will be better

I grabbed my red timbs and walked downstairs. My dad wasn't there. I saw a not taped to the fridge.Mahlia,

Honestly, I'm so done. I'm tired of people thinking they can be rude to me. My new attitude: I don't give on flying fucking fuck. If you're gonna be rude to me I'm gonna be rude too you. If you want to be treated with respect, treat me with respect.I pushed open the school doors and took my phone out of my pocket. "Well, well, well. Look who we have here." I looked up and Stacy was in front of me. "What bitch?" I asked. "Move." She said. "No." I said. She gave me a look. "What? You think I'm moving? You got me fucked up." I said.
I wasn't standing in any particular space. "You better move." She said. A crowd had formed. Why the fuck are people here so early? Oh well. "No. Quit fucking thinking you can just push me around because of my skin color. I'm sorry that you're mad because you're not black." I said. I pushed through the crowd of people and waited for the bell to ring.

"Hey, Mahlia." I looked up from my book. Jack. "What do you want?" I asked rudely. "I was wondering if you wanted to sit with me at lunch. Since you didn't yesterday." He said. "I didn't sit with you because you acted like you didn't know me." I said. "What are you talking about?" He asked. Clueless."When I came from my class you were standing here with Kayla and I smiled at you and you walked away." I said, hurt. "I'm sorry." He said quietly. "Forget it, text me or something." I wrote my number down on a piece of paper. "Please don't ignore me like you did yesterday." With that I walked away.
Jacks POV
I sighed as she walked away. I saw something in her that no one else saw. Potential.
I put the paper in my pocket and smiled knowing I got the hottest girl at school number. I walked down the hall to lunch and saw my friends. I sat down. "Dude, that light skin girl is fine." Sam said. "I know." Johnson said. "I don't know why people are so rude to her." I said while taking one of Johnson's grapes.
"Because she's the only African American in school." Jack said. I saw her walk by. "Mahlia!" I yelled. She looked around and her eyes landed on me. I motioned for her to come over and she did.
She was about to sit next to me but Kayla ruined it. "Go sit by your other friends, oh wait. You don't have any." Kayla said with a smirk. "Why are you so rude." I asked. "Jack shut up. Why are you sticking up for this piece of trash." She asked. I looked at Mahlia. I can't do what I did yesterday.
"Because. She's my friend." I said. She looked at me. "Why. She's poor. And ugly." She said. "No bitch, you're ugly." Mahlia said. She walked away and she looked over her shoulder and mouthed 'thank you'.
