Soon the day of the Discussion Conference arrived.....
The highly anticipated Discussion Conference, a gathering that Mèng Yáo had long yearned for, had finally arrived. Typically, Mèng Yáo didn't particularly relish these types of conferences, as they often brought forth a wave of stress and unexpected challenges, regardless of fault. However, in this instance, he was adamant that his fortunes were about to change for the better. As usual, he found himself responsible for ensuring every aspect of the upcoming meeting was flawlessly orchestrated, from arranging optimal seating for the esteemed guests to articulating the culinary offerings to suit the diverse palates of the attending clans.
As Mèng Yáo tirelessly oversaw the meticulous management of all the minute details, he couldn't help but lament the absence of his unreliable fùqīn, who was off gallivanting somewhere. Despite this, the guests were scheduled to commence their arrival at Wǔ Shí, a mere hour away from Sì Shí. Mèng Yáo's hope for a successful event soared, buoyed by the prospect of a promising outcome. He brimmed with anticipation, eagerly awaiting the transformation that this conference could bring, wishing for nothing but a stroke of good fortune to accompany him throughout the event.
Mèng Yáo had secretly hoped to have the fortune of avoiding his infuriating, arrogant, and dim-witted step-cousin, but luck was not on his side. As he wandered, he noticed Jīn Zixūn arrogantly bossing people around. Fearing the frustration that would ruin his otherwise delightful mood, Mèng Yáo swiftly turned away to sidestep him. However, his hopes were dashed when he heard that grating voice calling out, "Jīn Guāngyáo!" With a sigh, Mèng Yáo cursed his luck, forced a smile upon his face, and pivoted towards Jīn Zixūn. "Is there anything I can assist you with, Jīn Zixūn?" he mustered every ounce of politeness and civility in his voice.
Jīn Zixūn arrogantly raised his chin and cast a disdainful gaze at Mèng Yáo, treating him as nothing more than dirt beneath his shoes. "Ensure that you fulfill your duties competently and refrain from causing any embarrassment to my esteemed uncle in the presence of the other clans. Today, the true nature of Wèi Wúxiàn, a despicable monster, will be revealed to everyone. Address me as Young Master Jīn, not as Jīn Zixūn, you insolent spawn," he spewed venomously, as he strode past Mèng Yáo, forcefully colliding with their shoulder.
Mèng Yáo stumbled slightly before regaining his balance. He let out a breath and adjusted his wūshāmào, smoothing out the imaginary wrinkles from his clothes. 'It won't be me who embarrasses your uncle, but rather your uncle himself!' he thought with a gleeful smirk. So, his dear fùqīn had already informed his dear nephew about today's event, huh? Well, it seemed like the bashing would be twice as amusing. The more trouble, the more fun!
He mused over whether his half brother, Jīn Zixuān, was aware of the plan. However, upon reflection, he pondered once more. If Zixuān were to discover the plan, he would undoubtedly object, as would Jīn shào-fūren. After all, Jiāng Yànlí still regarded Wèi Wúxiàn as her dìdì, no matter what. He was absolutely certain that Jīn Guāngshàn had not disclosed anything about today's Discussion Conference to his wife. If he had, Jīn fūren's outcry would have reached their ears by now.
