The air was suffocating, heavy with the weight of unsaid truths and buried regrets. Wēn Qíng knelt, her forehead pressed to the cold ground, her heart pounding violently against her ribs. Hēixīng's crimson eyes seared into her, its gaze filled with ancient fury and the demand for answers.

The panther's voice, laced with the raw power of Luànzàng Gǎng itself, echoed in her mind: "Why did you agree with Xiǎo Yīng's idea for the golden core transfer?"

Wēn Qíng's body trembled beneath the intensity of the question. Memories of that fateful decision—of Wèi Wúxiàn's determined face and her own hesitation—flooded her mind. She opened her mouth to speak, but the words caught in her throat, strangled by her guilt.

"Luànzàng Gǎng," she whispered, the ancient name trembling on her lips. "I... I agreed because I believed I had no choice."

Her voice wavered, cracking under the weight of the truth she had hidden from even herself. "Wèi Wúxiàn... he came to me and begged me to do it. He said the person he wanted to save needed the golden core more than he ever would. I saw the desperation in his eyes... and I couldn't refuse him. I convinced myself that it was the right thing to do."

She paused, her hands clenching the earth beneath her, as if seeking some sort of grounding in the cold, hard soil.

"But there's more to it than that," she admitted, her voice lowering into a hoarse whisper. "A part of me wanted to know if it was possible. The golden core transfer... it was just a theory, something that had never been tested. And when Wèi Wúxiàn asked me to do it, I saw a chance to prove that it could work."

Her breath hitched in her throat, and she squeezed her eyes shut, the shame burning inside her like a wildfire. "I was selfish. I didn't think about what it would do to him—what it would cost him. All I saw was the chance to test my knowledge, to see if I could make the impossible real. And when he told me that the golden core wasn't for himself, that it was for someone else, I let myself believe that I was helping."

The memory of Wèi Wúxiàn's exhausted, determined face haunted her. He had trusted her, relied on her, and she had betrayed that trust by giving in to her own curiosity. Wēn Qíng's voice broke as she continued.

"I didn't want to admit it to myself at the time, but I was more focused on proving that the transfer could be done than I was on Wèi Wúxiàn's future. He trusted me to help him, and I failed him."

Tears spilled from her eyes, falling to the ground, each drop a testament to the burden she had carried since that day. "And now... I can't undo what I've done. I realize now how much he lost because of me. I didn't know how much it would hurt him."
