Kevin's pov

I woke up in a dark, ominous room without any memory of what had happened.

CREEK!

My head snapped to where the horrendous noise had come from I squinted at something hiding creepily in the shadows. Not being able to quite make out what it is, I scooted back a little only to hit a wall, the thing looked up at me with eyes that could make your skin crawl. It started to slowly stagger toward me. I looked for a way out, about three feet to the left was a door, I tried to open it but it was locked, I'm trapped. The creature only a few feet away dropped to the floor. I stood there motionless for a moment carefully examining the animal like thing, the last thing I saw before darkness was blood.

When I came to I another room only this time I realized, it was mine. I panicked sitting up, looking frantically around trying to figure out if this was real or if I'm only imagining it. I touched the bed beneath me, it felt real. Getting off the bed I went over to my cabinet, opened it and saw all my old photos, they looked real, this is so weird. Was it all just a night terror? What about Victoria? Kat? There's no way I dreamt up Kat. I need answers, what world is real. This one, or the Wasteland.

Approaching the door I was prepared for the worst, I got halfway there before it opened, practically jumping out of my skin, I fell on the floor and could hear my sister laughing an apology from where she stood. I got up and shoved past her going downstairs, I got to the kitchen and saw my mom  standing at the counter her brown hair in a bun, I could see she was on the phone so I patiently waited for her to be done. When she turned around and looked at me I feel tears forming around the rims of my eyes, but for the sake of my pride I kept it in. I went to hug her, but as soon as my arms were around her everything dematerialized. The tears came out and I couldn't pull myself together enough to stop them. Then that figure from the woods was once again in my presence. I looked up at it, all my sadness turned to rage just by looking. I went to throw a punch but the figure disappeared then reappeared behind me. I looked at the figure as it formed into a man who was at least 6 foot with dark hair and dark eyes. He took a step toward me as I took a step back, what he said next sent shivers up my spine, "For your test you must betray the one who's helped you most. Kill Victoria Smith and you shall be free from this hell."

Honestly I don't know if I can do this, Vic has always been protecting me since the second I got here. She's all I have left, then again if I do do this I'm free I can go somewhere I belong. The man made a fast motion, putting his palm on my head and made me sleep, when I woke up I was back in the woods.

~Victoria's pov~

I only stopped running when I tripped over something. I flipped over to look at it, and turns out it was Kevin. I rubbed my ankle while he rubbed his head. "Where the hell have you been? What happened?"I questioned,e sat up still rubbing his head.

"Well that thing told me I'm not allowed to tell or else bad things will happen. And you kicked me in the head, you should really start paying more attention." He responded, I rolled my eyes and got up, brushing the dirt off my pants. I told him everything that had happened while he was gone, he nodded along and as I finished he took a deep breath then he shook his head and said, "This is not good, not good at all. What are we supposed to do, are the only weapons available the ones at the devil house?" I sighed and nodded not sure of what to say or do. We headed away from the cabin, making sure not to make any loud noises. We were almost to the edge of the forest when lightning struck the tree right in front of us. Struggling to keep balance I stumbled back a few feet before falling on the wet mossy grass. It started raining again, not much but enough to make us move under a bigger tree that has more protection. As the rain slowed to a stop, the dim light disappeared leaving us in total darkness. Quietly creeping through the trees, still careful to be as quiet as possible, Kevin and I had walked about a mile, and could now see a river about 20 feet away. Kevin took off towards it, I ran to catch up and pulled him back, he gave me a questioning look so I decided to explain, "We don't know what's in this water, we don't even know if it is water. We should wait until it gets lighter, for now we're making camp right inside the tree line." He nodded in approval, but something was a little off about him, internally shaking my head I pushed the thought to the back of my mind. I looked at Kevin and ordered, "Go find wood for a fire. I'm going to make a tent, be back here in an hour. We'll go from there."
