Harry Potter was not having a good day, he was tired and cranky due to nagging friends and little sleep. Summer was different this year but that doesn't mean he got rest, oh no he's the basted "boy who lived". You'd think more than a few people would actually care for him and not just his image but I guess not.

It's his first day of school and he's already been called to Dumbledore's office and who else but Draco Malfoy and his father were waiting for him. Then on top of that all his summer training went right out the window not even 4 hours into being there when he said the first thing that came to his head. "Now Harry, that's no way to talk about your classmate!" Dumbledore snapped back in answer to Harry's previous slip in speech.

Biting back a sign he couldn't keep the flash of annoyance from his face as he tried to gather himself, this meeting had taken him off guard and he needed to get it together if he wanted to get through it. Deciding it would be best if he was seated Harry sat in the chair next to the elder Mr. Malfoy in front of Dumbledore.

"Albus, can we please get his meeting started? Classes are starting very soon and I'm sure professor Snape and I both have other things we could be working on to help prepare." McGonagall prodded when he didn't continue.

Harry upon realizing that McGonagall was even there made sure to adequately look over the office, assuming himself he best knows his surroundings. During his quick examination though he did note that Draco is still staring at him from where he is leaning against Dumbledore's desk, and it's getting a little weird at this point.

"Ah, yes, my apologies. You see the most wondrous thing has happened today!" Dumbledore said, looking straight at Harry. He sagged in his seat in response, resisting the urge to bang his head against the desk. He could get one free year, can he?

"Congrats" Harry said when it was clear the headmaster was waiting for a reply and nobody else in the room was going to say something. However just because it apparently had to do with him doesn't mean he has to show enjoyment or excitement for it thought Harry

"Congratulations indeed!" Dumbledore said happily, completely unaware of Harry's silent thoughts. "You see young Mr. Malfoy here has come into his veela inheritance over the summer and has already found his mate!" The professor continued, beaming in happiness.

Slowly Harry turned his head towards the standing Malfoy who was still staring at him, but this time Harry could see the longing and... hope? In his eyes, the twitching of his hand as if fighting back from lifting it, the change in his posture, the slight glow his body seemed to have even under his black Hogwarts robes, and the muscle growth that could be seen when Harry looked closer than a brief glance.

With that Harry's heart sucked as he had a good guess of who the mysterious mate was. Letting his head fall against his chest he took a deep breath and figured how to keep himself in cheek. Wonderful! The fates just love kicking me in the teeth, don't they he thought to himself resentfully. Both then his inner slytherin kicked in telling him of all the possibilities and new doors that come with being associated with the Malfoy's.

If anything it should be enough to tell Dumbledore to fuck off.

And

Possibly help him with his summer issue?!

With that Harry decided that he wasn't going to turn it down immediately but rather give it a chance and see what comes of it. Harry had a passing thought of it being a trap but one quick glance at Malfoy's eyes shut that down real quick.

He would give Malfoy a chance to tell him what it is that they want from him. After all, everyone else wanted something from him so they probably will too. And if the advantages out way the price then maybe it will become something more and we will be able to help each other.

"So what happens now?" Harry asked dully, fully knowing everyone in the room expected an argument or tantrum of some kind. Well it is a good thing he's never been known for doing what's expected then. "Draco and you will be moved to your own rooms, which we have already prepared for you," Dumbledore replied with a kind smile, and a merry twinkle. "You will of course have separate bedrooms for now, and you will also share all your classes. As you know, Draco will not be able to be separated from you until the bond has formed. Do not worry, my boy, it will all turn out for the best," Dumbledore said with his best grandfatherly smile. Harry never saw it as he was still focusing on the desktop.

"Shall we? I am sure you are both so eager to see your new home," Dumbledore continued, a bit miffed that his efforts were going to waste, and not at all happy by the way Harry was ignoring him; but everything was going to plan and Harry didn't put up an argument so he didn't focus on it to much.

Harry just shrugged and slowly got up from his seat, Draco watched him with a hesitant expression and he fought his instincts which wanted to grab his mate and never let go.

Displeased by Harry's lack of excitement Dumbledore says "Harry my child, after you get settled in and start the bonding come see me so we can chat about what comes next for you my boy." Those words cause a much stronger reaction out of Harry than the previous as his body tenses and his magic swirls just below the surface ready to attack.

Instead of lashing out like he would have done last year Harry rains his magic back under control, takes a deep breath, and focuses on his summer training. He can't destroy Dumbledore's office on the first day if he wants to peacefully make it through this year. "Yes sir" He says as he does his best not to storm out of the room and away from his twinkling eyes.

"Shall we?" Harry asked, managing a strained smile. Draco might be the reason why he was in a foul mood, but, for once, the blond hadn't done anything to cause his bad temper. And he didn't deserve to be made a target for it, even if it would make Harry feel better if he could vent his ire on the other boy. In the end, it would only make things even more difficult and complicated, so he bit back the harsh words wanting to erupt.

"Let's," Severus stated dryly, stalking off down the corridor.
