I Almost Do

Chapter 11

I held my breath and covered my mouth to muffle the sound of my crying. as i listened the call it suddenly started to rain. .

It quickly got louder and stronger to the point I didn't need to muffle my cries anymore, because the rain did it for me

Just like a year ago. .

1 Years Ago

"WHAT?!" I screamed because I couldn't hear her due to loudness of the rain "I said this road is blocked! We need to find another path"

I immediately looked up other ways we could get home and found one "Here, we could go through there. Although it'll take us a while before we reach home" i said as i gave the phone to ella

"As long as we get there it wouldn't matter how long it takes" she said before starting up the car "wanna play some music?" She asked

I turned on the car radio and put it on max volume "to those of you who are out driving make sure to drive safe with this weather and don't drive to your ex'es place. The next song we'll be playing is drivers license" The Dj said

We both looked at each other and laughed "what perfect timing huh?" I said, We just drove by her ex boyfriends house which made the songs timing all that more perfect

     "Red lights Stop signs i still hear your voice in the traffic we're laughing over all the noise god i'm so blue now we're through! BUT YOU KNOW I STILL LOVE YOU BAABEEE!" We sang on the top of lungs

     "Ella! I think we're on the wrong lane!" I said but she couldn't hear me as she was screaming her heart out to the song playing

We're supposed to keep right but looking at the road even if it isn't that visible due to the rain I could see that we were on the left lane

     "ELLA MOVE TO THE RIGHT!" I yelled, she swiftly turned of the music "What was that?" She asked. "i said we're driving on the wrong lane" i answered

She looked through her side mirrors and saw that we were indeed on the wrong side, As she
turned the car to switch lanes a bright light shone in front of us, followed by a loud noise

"DOC SHE'S AWAKE!" I heard a womans voice say, i gently opened my eyes to be greeted by plain white ceiling with fluorescent lights

I slowly tried to lift my head but as i did i felt severe pain in several parts of my body from my neck, waist, spine practically my whole body felt like i had just fallen off a building

     "CELESTE!" I  heard Ella voice echoing through the room before seeing her face come out in my peripheral vision "Ella?" I called out "doc she's awake, she's finally.. awake" i heard her say as she grabbed my arm and started to gently caress it

As i stared at the blank white ceiling fragments of my memory started flowing back to me of how i got here.. how We got here

"Good Afternoon, Celeste Dechaves. I am your Doctor Josh i would just like to ask some questions before we run a few tests to see how you are, is that ok?" He asked

I simply nodded, he continued to ask a few small questions such as if there's any specific part of my body that hurts or if i can move certain joins and muscles then left shortly there after which left me alone with ella

She just sat there in a daze "Hey!" I said as I snapped my fingers in front her she still didn't react or respond

"Ella!" I said loudly which made her snap into reality again "you alright?" I asked, she stared at me for a few seconds before curling up "I'm scared" she said in a whispery shaky voice

"So am i.. but i'm sure everything will be alright.." i said, she just nodded "you look pretty in blue" i said to break the silence

She looked at me and said "are you implying i look good in a Hospital gown?" Before laughing

Seeing her smile and laugh like that made me feel at ease, everything will be alright, i kept repeating in my head. Over and Over again.

A few days later

"Celeste? The doctor would like to see you now" the nurse said, i turned to glance at ella before leaving the room and saw her sleeping peacefully "I'll be back" i whispered

I opened the door to doctors office and went inside "hi.. Celeste.." doc josh greeted me "Hello.. so uhm, how am i? How's my condition?" I asked, he sighed before saying "please sit down first" so i did.

The expression he had from the moment I entered made me nervous about what he was going to tell me, but i just kept repeating to myself that everything will be alright

" i have some.. bad news.. I don't exactly know how to say this in a way that would lessen the pain or shock in may give you but.. I'm sorry.. you only have two years left to live" he said " I- I must've heard you.. wrong.. can you.. repeat that?" I asked, my hands and voice trembling as i tried to hold back my tears

"You only have two years left.. I'm sorry.." he said, he continued speaking but none of it got to me, the only thing that kept repeating in my head was now what he just said

I quietly got up to go back to our room, i felt numb i wanted to cry but no tears were coming out. "SHOCK IN 3 2 1!" I heard someone yell, as i stepped closer the louder it became. "THE PATIENT HAS GONE INTO CARDIAC ARREST!" A nurse yelled to another

As i got to the door of our room i saw many doctors and nurses rushing in and out, as one of them ran by I caught a glimpse of ella laying there in the middle of the crowd

I was about to call out her name when suddenly. .

"RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNGGGGGG"

     "Ella Troye. .

     "September 16th, 4:36PM"
