The cold embrace of death was soothing, calming. It was gently cradling him in a dark abyss. "K...l...a?" Killua turned towards the noise. "Ki...ua...o...n yo...r eyes...open your eyes killua!" Killua's eyes slowly opened, and he was greeted by a bright light. He blinked. "finally, you zoned out sweetheart" his mother said with a smile, patting his head. "you ready to go yet?" Killua glanced around, then his eyes fell on a mirror. However it wasn't the mirror that caught his attention. It was his reflection.
Woah, I'm young. He couldn't have been a day over thirteen. "Come on sweetie!" his mother grabbed his hand, walking out of the store they'd been in. Killua took the time to survey his surroundings. We seem to be in the U.S judging by the street signs. Man, again? Killua always thought it was way more interesting in other parts of the world. Like Europe, or China. He'd been to countless places across the globe, and to his dismay he somehow ended up in America 60% of the time. Sure 60% was only a little over half, but still it was far bigger than he'd like.
The crisp air hit his lungs and he inhaled it, feeling content. At least the air's nice here. He could still vaguely taste the vodka in the back of his throat though, for whatever reason. This was Killua's life now. Although, at the drop of a pin it could change. One unfortunate accident, and he'd be whisked into a new one again. Killua couldn't remember how many lives he'd lived, how many times he'd died. It wasn't as if there was any regularity either. One life he could be there for decades, the other could be a few days. One particularly bad life he'd been caught in had dragged him all the way back to medieval times, in which he got his head chopped off for being a witch in the first few hours.
Each life was different, however..a few key things were always the same. The names, the faces, who his parents were. He'd grown to recognize nearly everyone he'd ever meet in each lifetime, although every now and again a new face would surprise him. He'd lived so long, he couldn't even remember what his first life was like. He'd long since given up trying to grab the reigns, over the years Killua had learned to just roll with the punches. Life was unpredictable, and that was the beauty of it.
Killua no longer feared death.
Death, was merely a part of life. He'd given up trying to chase his dreams as well, he'd already achieved everything he'd wanted to in life. Well, everything that was obtainable. It didn't matter how hard he worked to change society, as soon as the reaper's hour came it was refreshed anew as if nothing had ever happened. Each life was a clean slate. Well, a clean slate that also held secrets. Secrets he was supposed to know, but didn't. He'd gotten good at pretending like he knew those secrets, gathering information about them until he could piece it together himself. He was cut from his thoughts as he felt a hand ruffle his hair. "we're here darling" His mother, Kikyo's voice chimed.
"huh?" He glanced up, looking at the building. He blinked, it was a house. However he was unsure whether this was his house or someone else's. "Go on" she said, with an encouraging smile. Killua walked up the stairs of the house. Kikyo didn't follow him, so he assumed she was just dropping him off. He rang the doorbell and waited, curious. The door opened, and to his surprise the woman who opened the door was someone he'd never seen before. This was new, and he was intrigued. "Hey Mito!" Kikyo said with a wave. The woman by the name of 'mito' smiled. "Kikyo! Nice to see you. Wanna hang out during their little play date?"
Killua quickly concluded the fact that whoever this woman's child was, he was here to see. He took a moment to muse about who the child could be. Not Canary. Kurapika? Probably not...maybe Rachel? No I've met her parents. Hm... "is he here?" a young male voice said from inside. Mito laughed. "he is dear" There were footsteps, then a boy who was a bit smaller than him ran outside, eyes shining. "Killua!"
Killua's eyes widened a little. The boy had messy black hair tipped with a dark green. His honey brown eyes shining with excitement, and his skin a fair slightly tanned shade. The boy's warm arms wrapped around him and Killua felt his cheeks heat up. In all of his lives, he'd never felt this before. "I missed you Killua!" Killua blinked a few times. "oh uh- I missed you too!" I wonder what his name is? "You and Gon have fun today alright? Me and Mito are gonna go for a chat" Kikyo said, smiling. Gon. He thought. What an interesting name. Gon grabbed his hand and ran inside with him, chattering. Killua couldn't focus on the words though, only on his face. Something about his eyes, his shoulders, his hips. It made killua...feel. What is this feeling? Its....new.
