CH3. The Daylight in Hell.

You look around the first room. Nothing seems to stand out, all you can see are a few desks, two closets and a long, dark green carpet. You hear your friends rummaging through some drawers, so you decide to do the same.
(sheep)

You find nothing of use, just some loose papers and pencils, and a couple of gold coins, which you pocket, although you're not sure what exactly you could need them for.

You all proceed into the room labelled '002', then into the next one, and the next, and the next, just looking around for useful items or simply admiring the vintage setting of the whole place, until you reach door '011', which was tightly shut with a lock.

'Guess we gotta look for a key...' you muttered. Everyone split up, searching the adjoined bedrooms. No luck on your part, though you did find a lighter, which surprisingly still had some liquid in it. You stuffed it into your jacket pocket.

'Found the key!' someone's voice rung out. You exited the bedroom and stayed on the side as Droopy unlocked the door. As you entered the eleventh room, the lights flickered. A chill ran down your spine, for a reason you couldn't quite explain to yourself; surely you weren't getting scared just because of a faulty light bulb. 'What sort of Stranger Things shit is this?' you said quietly, but just as you let out those words, a shrill cry rattled the entire room. Fuck this, now you were getting scared. You looked around, your friends were all growing pale, and the screams began to get louder.

'Get in a closet, guys!' you said, words rushed (haha, get it) and motioning them towards the nearby wooden closets. You got into one to your left just in time, it seemed, because the instant you pulled the door closed, darkness enveloped the room and, through deafening screams, you caught a glimpse of... something, a creature, you didn't know, rushing through the rooms and slamming the doors at a wind-like speed.

Silence settled around you, but you didn't dare leave the closet. You waited, unsure. A moment passed, then two, then you didn't know how many more, your vision begun to darken, your head felt suddenly lighter, and the air reaching your lungs seemed to not be enough anymore. You struggled to breathe, but before you could pass out, you felt the pressure around you grow heavier, pushing you out of the closet. You fell to the floor with a gasp for air.
(dumb bitch imagine almost dying to hide)

You lay there for a few moments, unmoving. You began to regain your mind's clarity. You could see your friends now, also on the floor, in a state much like yours. You pushed yourself to your feet, walking over to Enya and helping her up. You notice Droopy doing the same for Miles.

'Jesus fuck, what the actual Hell?' Enya exclaimed once her breath began to steady.

You looked over at Miles 'Hey, you didn't pee your pants,' you chuckled, attempting to lighten the mood.

'Fuck off, seriously. You can't say you weren't scared,' he retorted.

Everyone became silent once more as you continued to advance through the doors.
(OMG DOORS REFERENCE WHAT)

You pushed open the door labelled '016'. Inside, you were met with a darkness so thick you could barely see your hands. You extended your arm, trying to keep close to your friends, but all you felt was empty air.

'Guys?' you whispered. For some reason, it felt wrong to disturb the almost mortuary silence of the endless black. No response. Well shit. Not even one minute into the room and you had lost your group. You had no idea how big the room was -if it even was just one room- either. From what you had seen so far, some of the rooms had other u unlabelled doors lining their walls, even stairs or tight passages, sometimes. If that was the case you'd have one hell of a time in here.
(you're gonna have a bad time 😏😏)
(jk)

You keep walking, trying to feel for a wall or something.

'Psst.'

You whip your head around so fast you fear you might have broken your neck, frantically searching for the source of the sound. You tilt your head upwards; there above you stands the freakiest freak you've ever seen. A floating head, with a blinding wide smile and fucking tentacles (?) coming out of it, making it resemble a sort of gross, slimy star.
(awww the scrunkly little meow meow he's so so silly ☺️☺️)

It lets out a horribly high pitched screech right in your face and you jump back in fear, nearly tripping over. 'Shit!' you yell. The creature disappears just as quick as it appeared. You don't even realise you're clutching your chest in an attempt to steady your heartbeat.

As you continue to advance into the darkness, you hear a scream which you recognise to be Enya's coming from not very far away, followed by a heavy thud, then silence. You can make out the sounds of agitated footsteps now, though they seem to be muffled, and you think they are coming from below you. So this room does have a cellar. Without any warning, the murky black surrounding you is gone, and, in an instant, replaced by the dull, yellow light of this hotel. You close your eyes for a few seconds, trying to adjust to the new brightness of everything. More footsteps, this time hurried and sounding closer to you, and you see Miles and Droopy running up some stairs to your right. Their faces are as pale as the moon itself, and you notice that Miles is bleeding, from his arm, you think.
(oh hell naw what happened to these kids 😟)

Of course, your first instinct is to ask 'Where is Enya?'

The two boys in front of you just stare at each other.

'We... she was... t-this thing...' Miles is desperately trying to form a sentence. You notice just how badly he's shaking, and Droopy seems to notice at the same time, for he puts an arm around him and rubs his shoulder gently.
(aww cuties too bad they're only gonna get more traumatised)

'We thought you had gone down into the cellar, so we went down as well, the three of us,' Droopy begins. 'We were just sort of walking around in the dark when this... thing? came out of fucking thin air, it bit Enya really hard, and Miles too, and we... we panicked, and Enya went the other way and we couldn't find her,' he says, out of breath. 'We found a lever for the lights but she just... wasn't there...'

'Well fuck. She has to be somewhere, right?' you question. 'I mean, I don't know, maybe we should go down again...'

Miles says your name. 'You don't know what we saw.'

'I've seen that thing too! It didn't bite me, but I did see it,' you reply.

'But you didn't see her,' he interrupts. 'We can't risk going back there, what if it turns the lights off again?'

'So you suggest we just... keep going? And leave Enya here?' you can't believe he'd really do that.

'It's either that, or end up like her,' Miles says, still shaking. Part of you understands him, poor guy is never going to get a good night's sleep ever again.
(we get it he's traumatised🙄)

Still, you don't know if you could really bring yourself to just abandon your best friend like that. You turn your gaze towards Droopy. His expression shows a sad understanding.

'I'm sorry, but I have to agree with Miles' he says. 'We really did look for her, she wasn't anywhere. I don't want to risk putting myself or Miles through that again,' his voice is firm and steady, something that only happens when he is undoubtedly serious.

You scoff 'I can't believe you guys.'

You brush past them and make your way to the next door, '017'.
(okay baddie queen main character 💅🏻)
