Every moment of peace and tranquility felt like a blessing to you, which is why you appreciated how calm the day had started and still was.

Both you and Rui were in the living room, Rui sitting on the couch watching some TV, you sitting on the floor reading a book while enjoying some tea.

Rapid banging startling you two, as Rui looked at you with a "???" expression, you shrugged. Placing your book down as you stood up, careful not to knock over your tea, your phone lit up from a notification. Checking it before investigating the noise, which suspiciously stopped as soon as you received the notification, you read a text,

"I AM HERE WITH CAKE AND SWEETS!!"

Kicking the door open Marnie entered with a dramatic pose, a container with cake, small pastries and sweets raised above her head. Once you came into her view Marnie pulled you into a side hug with her free arm,

"It's been so long since I've seen you! I started... to forgot how you looked...!"

Imaginary tears appeared in her face as she did another dramatic pose, you could only deadpan at her,

"It was only a week,,,,, and why are you striking so many poses??"

"I've been hyping myself up for this moment and have way too much energy (｡•̀ᴗ-)✧"

Rui popped his head over the couch to see who Marnie was before questioning,

"Wha- wait how did she?? Say that??"

Turning to Rui, Marnie's arm fell back to her side, the dessert now at a normal height. For a good while she only stared blankly at him without saying anything, before grabbing your shoulder and shaking you,

"WHEN DID YOU GET A CHILD???"

"UuGhH wElL-"

"AND HOW DID HE GROW UP SO FAST??"

"I-"

"WHERE'S YOUR TABLE!?"

"sToP sHaKiNg MEEEE!!!"

"Oh yeah, I forgot."

Taking a moment to balance yourself, you dragged Marnie to the couch before moving to make her sit. Rui appeared completely caught off guard by your interaction with Marnie, which was understandable. You weren't really sure how you expected Marnie to react to seeing Rui, even though she did "watch" KNY, she was still only in the first few episodes and therefore didn't recognize him.

This inevitably made explaining the whole situation even weirder...

"Eh? And at no point did you question how weird this situation is?? Just 'ight this my life now'??"

"Of course I questioned it!!! But what was I supposed to do, SERIOUSLY! And it isn't like I can do anything about..."

The sound of heavy rain drummed outside as the three of you were sitting on the floor in a circle, the sweets placed in the middle.

Marnie was understandably baffled by your recounting of the last few days, but her reaction oddly reassured you that you weren't going insane and that this situation was super fucking weird and not how reality was supposed to work.
