It started like any other day for Otto, up and out of bed, hot shower, breakfast, and off for work. as Otto walked to the train station, he peered off to his left, observing a maglev practically flying above the city. A bright sign had lit the street in front of him, it glowed "Bean Brew", "What a stupid name" Otto thought to himself, even as dumb as their name sounded, he had to admit, they had the best coffee around. "I bet I'll be fine if I grab a quick coffee, I forgot to make one before heading out anyway" Otto thought to himself as he walked into the café, as early as it was, it was still packed with folks throughout town, Otto sat down at a window seat that was far off to the corner and looked out as the sun rose over the horizon. A robot worker came over to Otto and greeted him.
"Welcome to the bean brew sir! What may I get you on this fine morning?"
"Just a latte"
"Coming right away!"
The bot quickly scurried off to the back as Otto pulled out his phone to check the time, "8:20, ill have more than enough time to get to work" he thought to himself. "Thanks" Otto said as the bot handed him his coffee, Otto dug through his wallet and handed the robot a $5, then took a sip of his drink, "Thank you very much sir! Have a splendid day!" the robot said happily as it swiftly returned back to its docking station, "these bots make me feel lazier and lazier every day" Otto thought to himself as he continued to sip his coffee, he took a few moments to really appreciate the sun rise. Otto swallowed down the last bit of his drink, set it down on the table, and walked out the café, continuing back on track to the train station. Otto looked down to his phone to check the time, "8:45?! What the hell I just had a cup of coffee?!" Otto pondered as he picked up his pace. Just like any other day for Otto, he was going to be late again, he practically sprinted to the train station, racing up the stairs and through the hall, he saw the train as he approached the platform but it's door suddenly shut and it started to move, "WAIT!!" he cried out, hoping the bus driver might stop, but it seemed useless, now a days all these damn train conductors were just robots. "God Damnit.." Otto sighed as he sat down on the bench, "why is it always me.." he thought to himself, just then a robot walked over and sat down at the end of his bench, "I wonder what a robot is doing here" Otto wondered to himself. Robots are commonly working at this hour, or in their docking stations, so it was strange to see one just out and about with nobody around, as he glanced in its directions, noticing it's appearance and body language, it seemed like it was a girl, or at least resembled one. It suddenly shifted it's head in Otto's direction and they locked eyes for a moment, but as fast as they locked eyes they broke eye contact, Otto looked down at his phone whilst the robot girl looked the other way, both in a completely silent trance. Following a few minutes of silence, Otto glanced up and watched as the sun lit up the sky, it was beautiful..
. . .
"It's beautiful isn't it?" A quiet yet peaceful voice filled Otto's ears, he was startled but kept his composure.
"yeah.. I guess it is pretty nice.."
"I love the sun, just as much as I love the moon"
"I like the moon too", Otto glanced at the robot girl.
"Why do you like the moon?"
"It just shines so bright, it light's up the night"
"yeah, it sure does..."
"Why do you like the moon?"
"I'm not really sure, I guess I've just always wanted to see it from up close, something about it just looks so beautiful and accepting to me.."
"I've always wanted to see it from up close too" the robot girl commented as she smiled brightly.
Just then, it appeared as if this girl was much more human then she seemed.
