It had been a few weeks since the events surrounding Chalice's encounter with the two boys. She is practically never out of sight. She usually appears as a ghost floating in Cuphead's way. The fact that only Cuphead and Mugman could see her started to dawn on her. Even in her ghostly state, she passed Elder Kettle's notice. The Kettle was still aware of her existence. She ended up sleeping on Mugman's reading chair the majority of the time because she was around the brothers so frequently. Though uncomfortable at first, she has grown accustomed to it. Chalice was simply relieved to no longer be alone. It almost seems as though her death was the best thing to ever happen to her.

"CHALICE!"

When Chalice heard her name being called, she was dozing off on Mugman's chair. As soon as she opened her eyes, shock overcame her. Cuphead was hovering over her, his eyes bright. She yawned before she sat up.

"Come on! You gotta get up, the carnival is in town!"

Cuphead said as he started wiggling like a worm. Chalice let out a friendly laugh as she stood up and stretched.

"Alright! Alright! Let me wake up first!"

Chalice laughed.

"Right, sorry! Mugman is down stairs! He keeps going off on how dangerous the carnival is... i don't think he will let us go.."

With disappointment in his voice, Cuphead said. But then, as if he had a plan, his tone abruptly changed.

"Unlesss~~"

Cuphead started as he looked straight at chalice, Almost like he expected her to know what he was thinking.

"If we sneak out, don't you think Mugsy would notice?

Chalice said as much as she thought. Though she didn't necessarily hate the plan of sneaking out. Though she also thought it was too early in the morning to be going anywhere.

"Not if we are smart about it! I have a couple ideas up my sleeve.."

Chalice and Cuphead were on their way down stairs when Mugman was waiting near the bottom.

"What took you so long?"

Mugman asked as he started to walk into the kitchen, Cuphead and chalice followed him. While Cuphead explained how "Chalice wouldn't wake up! She's like a rock!" Mugman was surprised, stating that he didn't think his chair was that comfortable.

Before Cuphead whispered something into Mugman's ear that was too low for Chalice to hear, Elder Kettle made them some pancakes. Before she noticed Mugman's expression change from a surprised one to a smile that stretched for miles, she raised an eyebrow at the two cups. Chalice was now even more puzzled.

"Alright, Chalice come on!"

Cuphead was standing at the door when Chalice looked up. It was quick. She pondered. She nevertheless approached Cuphead, and the two of them excited. Mugman was waving good-bye with an air of indifference.

"What did you tell Mugsy to let him let us go?"

Chalice asked in a whisper. Cuphead scratched his head and laughed.

"Nah, don't worry about it!...."

Then he added

"He doesn't know we are going to the carnival.."

Cuphead said at last. With a half smile on his face.

"So lying to him was your plan?"

Chalice spoke in a neutral tone, not one of annoyance. After finally standing up straight, Cuphead paused to reflect before shrugging. Cuphead then grabbed her and ran toward the carnival, Chalice sighed.
