(juts wanna say im not trying to ship Chalice and Cuphead. though when i write i kina. Zoon out. and i thought it was a good twist for now, though imp not sure if ill make them a thing.. prob not.. idk. lmao)

As Chalice stood next to Cuphead, rain began to fall. The two sat in silence as the storm gradually cleaned up the blood that had covered the grass. The Devil encounter Cuphead had was something he didn't want his brother to know about. Chalice was concerned that her friendship would end. Chalice looked up as the moon was obscured by clouds. She felt cold as the rain filled her head. When she turned to face him, she noticed that Cuphead was dormant, lying on his side. They were unable to remain here. They would become ill.

"I say we walk back to the cottage and sneak in.. we can get that wound cleaned up and act like nothing happened.."

Chalice said, looking at the cup as he laid there. Cuphead layed there for a moment before he spoke.

"That could work. But how would we sneak in.."

Cuphead questioned with a flat voice. Chalice eventually got to her feet and gazed into the distance. Her skirt was blown around by the wind. Once more, memories engulfed her. When everyone was asleep, she had thoughts about leaving the orphanage and falling out of the window. If she had not escaped, she would have starved, leaving her to wonder where she was now. Shaking her head, Chalice put her thoughts to rest. She had to return Cuphead to his cottage.

"We could use a ladder and go through your bedroom window..".

Chalice proposed. Cuphead sighed and got to his feet. His chest continued to hurt, and he sighed. Chalice hoped that he would be capable of climbing the ladder as well as walking home. As they walked toward their house, Chalice approached Cuphead and allowed him to lean up against her for support.

"Chalice, stop for a second."

Cuphead begged as he put his hands on his knees, trying to regain his breath. They haven't been running, in fact they have been walking as slow as a snail. Chalice guessed the pain on his chest was the reason he was so tired. She wondered if they would even be able to hide the fact about the devil... or maybe.

"We're almost home, don't worry..."

Chalice said hoping it would comfort Cuphead. Though it didn't. Cuphead began to stand straight again as he looked at Chalice with pain in his eyes...

"We won't be able to keep that wound a secret. I say we say its from something else"

Chalice said as she walked over to Cuphead resting her hand on his shoulder. She hoped he would agree. The wound could get worse.. It could get infected. Or if too much pressure is put on it he could start bleeding out again. Cuphead just nodded as he felt as if he couldn't speak. Chalice sighed.

"Here, let me carry you. You shouldn't be walking anyways."

Cuphead at first objected, but after a while he caved and allowed Chalice to carry him. Despite not being accustomed to carrying people, Chalice knew she had to get him to safety. As they approached the cottage, the rain started to lessen. As she climbed the hill the cottage was perched on, she could see the lights from the windows. She soon made her way up to the door after passing the white fence. Before stepping through the door, she gave Cuphead a quick glance. She was accustomed to the darkness of the night, so the bright lights from inside burned her eyes a little as she flinched.

"Chalice.? Cuphead!"

As Mugman approached, Chalice turned her head to see him moving with concern in his eyes. Chalice quickly moved the cup over to the couch and set him down. Mugman kept glancing at his brother. Cuphead winced in pain as he began to roll over to his side. Mugman pushed past Chalice and went to touch Cupheads shirt that was wrapped around him. Cover in blood still.

"What happened?? I thought you two were going on a simple date??"

Mugman questioned, his voice filled with pain. He started to cry just by looking at his brother's condition. On the other hand, Chalice was startled and her eyes widened in confusion. She shook her head and turned to face Mugman. She couldn't think about what Cuphead told Mugman this morning. She needed to think of a lie to convince Mugman. Nothing came to mind and her thoughts were empty..

"Well??"

Mugman questioned before shaking his head. He had to go get something for his injured brother. Mugman hurried upstairs to get some bandages. Chalice moved closer to Cuphead to take a seat next to him. Chalice was looking down at the ground in agony. She should not have allowed Cuphead to take her to the carnal. The Devil is after the soul of the cup... Cupheads hurt, too. Is she really to blame? Was she going to tell Mugman anything? She was unable to lie to him. Mugman suddenly dashed down the stairs carrying several badges in each hand.

"Don't worry Cups, you'll be ok i promise!"

The mug sobbed while trying to accept his claims as true. Chalice did nothing but watch as Mugman applied cotton to the wound after removing the shirt that was wrapped around His brother's chest. Then he raised Cuphead and surrounded him with the badges. and strapped some tape to seal it. All the while, Cuphead did nothing but groan in agony. Cuphead sat back down, clutching his chest in pain, after Mugman had finished with him. Then Mugman fixed his gaze directly on Chalice while looking terrified and startled.

"What happened?"

Concern filled Chalice's eyes as she fixed her gaze on the mug; she then looked away and bit her lip. Come on Chalice, think.. Then something came to mind. If Cuphead said this was a date maybe she could use that information to her advantage. Thought she would need to talk about that to Cuphead later..

"Me and Cuphead decided to go for a walk.. We uhm..- got lost.. And it got dark. We ended up getting caught up in a river and a rock.. Slit him open. I was able to get out and save him,"

Chalice said sweating like she was gonna get caught but the mug's expression was filled with worry. He believes me! Chalice thought before she continued.

"And when I got him to safety I was able to wrap his shirt around his wound."

Chalice said, god she hated this. But The mug nodded though confusion showed in his eyes.

"It must have been a sharp rock... are you sure that's what happened?"

Chalice nodded in response. Hoping the Mug would just believe what happened and drop it. Once again though she didn't blame him for wondering. She's just glad the lie worked. She hoped Cuphead was listening..

"Oh ge.. "

Were the only words that came out of Mugmans mouth. The Mug began to rub His brother's back pain and worry still in his eyes. Chalice stood up, and began to walk off. But before she could.

"Chalice.."

Chalice turned around to face the mug. The Mug showed no expression..

"Y-yeah?"

Fear fell in Chalice's throat. The Mugs stare frightened her. Did the mug know she was full of it..?

"Did the rest of the date go well..?"

While his brother was dozing off, The Mug questioned, attempting to change the subject. Chalice felt her head start to warm up. She didn't consider it to be a date... Plus she didn't believe she felt anything for the cup. However, Cuphead had informed Mugman that it was a date..

"I-. uhm yeah,"

Chalice was able to respond. Though the more she thought about it the more confused she was. Everytime she got close to Cuphead the cup would shift the other way.. He gave no indication that he liked Chalice. Perhaps it was just a convenient excuse to visit the carnevil. It had to be.

"Hey, don't blame yourself for Cupheads wound.. He can be reckless sometimes... but he's going to be ok.."

Mugman said trying to convince himself just as much as trying to convince Chalice. Chalice sighed. She was blaming herself.. But once again she lied to the mug.. She then realized how much weirder the morning would be..She hoped she wouldn't be awkward around Cuphead.

She just hoped The date was an excuse...
