Despite the acknowledgement that made Theodore smile, the next day came without much of an update about Jade Valentine.
Jade herself didn't even bother updating him through call or text.
In the morning, Theodore sent Kieran a message, asking if he has tasks for the day. The head bodyguard told him to take a rest, adding that Jade's in Astra's unit taking care of Ira with Justin, and that there were bodyguards stationed around and inside the building.
'But there's a snitch in there,' he typed. 'Someone's working against the Sinclairs.'
The reply came after 15 minutes.
'We know. The man told us.'
'Where did you bring him?'
'The other agency.'
5 seconds later, before Theodore could reply, Kieran sent another text.
'We shouldn't talk about this in a text. I'll see you this evening.'
Theodore replied, 'Where, and what time exactly?'
'Room 303, BTX Condo. 8 pm.'
"Beside ours?" he whispered. 'But there's another student who lives there.'
*ignore the date and time
30 minutes passed, and Theodore didn't receive another reply from Kieran.
As much as Theodore wanted some update about Jade's whereabouts - reasons he like to believe were just because he's her bodyguard, he also wanted to know more about the perpetrator's motive (or motives).
Why would the perpetrator target College students who most likely are not involved with their business?
Was it because they know Jade's involvement with her grandmother's key, and they've been following Jade since then? If so, don't they know that Jade was in a coma and forgot some of her memories?
And why would they target Ira Sinclair?
In their unit's living room, JP nudged his best friend's arm to get his attention.
"Earth to Theo," he said, waving his hand in front of Theodore's face.
"What?" the other boy asked as he pushed JP's hand away from him.
"I've been thinking."
Theodore's eyebrows raised before a smirk slowly crept up. "That's a surprise." He shifted from his seat to face JP, then he leaned closer. "Who made you think, Jeremiah Pax?"
JP flicked his friend's forehead, causing the other to pull away with a groan, his hands massaging his forehead. "That's for talking like Jade. I can't believe one kiss from her made you turn against your BEST FRIEND."
