❛ it's a cruel summer ❜𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗵 𝗗𝘂𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁 was never really sure why the pogues and kooks didn't get along. She knew it had to do with money, but she didn't see the big problem with it. She often shared her money with the pogues and those who needed it, so whenever she heard that people, mostly John B Routledge, didn't like her, she didn't understand. Delilah had never had an issue with them, she didn't think money mattered and changed who they were as people. Everyone was different, with or without money, so them having less money didn't make them bad people. It just made them themselves. But pogues and other people on the island didn't seem to think the same as Delilah and that turned into them having fights and arguments constantly.
That summer everything started to change for the teens on the island though. Delilah's friend group had never been close to any of the pogues, so when Sarah Cameron dragged them into a hunt for the royal merchant and millions of dollars in gold, they were a bit shocked. Delilah wasn't sure what to think of her new friends at first, she thought they were a bit crazy for tracking down this gold and treasure all to prove that John B's dad was right. Although her point of view on the situation started to change when she saw how much they cared for each other. How they truly only had each other and this treasure was going to change everything for them.
Kooks and pogues never got along, but a summer can change a lot of things and that summer it did. Two friend groups coming together to find treasure and gold was all it took for the lives of multiple teens on the island to change forever.
