Justin's POV-
It's been three days since Augusts accident, He hasn't woken up or moved at all. All of his vital signs returned to normal but he is still sleeping. He doesn't look like he is in any pain, The purple bruising around the area where he was bit is starting to fade and his temperature is back down. I don't know what else to do for him at this point. I wish I had an M.R.I. or CT scan machine. But all of those were onboard the Chrysalis. I look over to August, Dirt has started to accumulate on his face, I look down at my own body. I'm filthy as well. I haven't left his side for a single second since I found him, and I don't plan to. He is so helpless and defenseless in this state. I just want him to open his beautiful eyes, To smile at me and tell me he is okay. I am a man of science, But right now I am praying to anyone listening, Please give me my Son back. I look over at the provisions August found for us with a profound sense of guilt. It should have been me, I should be the one unconscious on the hard cave floor. Not him, He has enough burden to bear without having to be the father as well, even if he doesn't know it yet. I walk over to his side and pull his limp body into my lap crying. "Please August, Please come back to me." My pleading is met with a small moan from my boy. It gave me hope that he is still in there, fighting to regain consciousness. I watched his body closely looking for any sign of movement. Suddenly I saw the slightest twitch from his big toe, then his fingers. He was still in there, He just needs time.
Augusts POV-
I feel so warm, The pain was white hot and the hallucinations set in almost immediately. I got a pretty good look at the creature that struck me, It's eyes, I could swear that it had camera apertures over it's eyes, it's underbelly was translucent and instead of blood vessels it looked more like wires. Now all I can hear is my Dads voice, blaming himself. Begging me to come back, I want to reach out and grab his hand just to let him know it will be okay. But I can't move at all. I can't open my eyes. And all I can see is a flashing light through my eyelids. Days pass and this becomes my constant existence. At least the pain stopped though. This world has shown us again and again that we are intruders, that we aren't welcome. But I don't think it has ever met humans before, we are determined to find a way. To exist and to go on. Now that it's just dad and I I'm not sure how the human race has any hope to continue, But if this is the beginning of the last breath of the life forms known as homo-sapiens. We will not go out with a whisper. we will roar out to the cosmos saying "We were here." even if no one is around to listen. I just want to open my eyes one last time, to look at his face before I go. I would give anything just to give him a sign that I am still here, fighting. I heard him gasp. I can feel him clutching my hand, crying his tears are warm falling on my chest and arm. Did I move? Am I finally regaining my mobility? I cant feel a small amount of movement in my fingers and toes. Maybe this nightmare is finally coming to an end.
