Naira's pov- (present day)

I shifted in my bed reaching for the glass of water Bubba leaves for me every night. (yes l still call my brother Bubba it makes me feel close to him.)

Oh sorry for being rude I'm Naira , Naira Steele daughter of Ashton Steel he's a buisnessman and isn't home often l live with my brother and some maids and helpers in our luxurious apartment I'm sorry if calling it luxurious is rude but it is what it is.

I'm the closest to my brother, Asher. He's just like a parental bestfriend brother to me. Haha. I have a bestfriend she's homeschooled and lives right across our apartment her names Elliana. Well sometimes l don't like when Ash treats me like I'm a child I mean well drop it.
He still spanks me if I do something very wrong.

Okay back to present.

"Okay cool no water" i thought to myself internally groaning at the thought of getting up.

I get up and head to the kitchen there l see Ash working with his eyes glued to the screen in front of him.

I wanted to greet but yeah my throat was so sore that if I tried to speak i might crack the insides.

He saw and looked up "were you up until now?" He asks.

I shake my head and reach towards the fridge getting a bottle out. It was raining outside. God i wish no thunder please.

Ash doesn't question further as he knows when I'm lying and when not. Magic right?

I drink my fill and as I turn his arms are already open, welcoming me. How does he know my next move always!?

I walk towards him as he wraps his arms around me. He wasnt home this week and God l missed the warmth!.

"Missed me?" He said as i clinged to his hoodie( now that's something i always do)

"A..l..lot why'd you go" i don't know but l feel like crying in his arms so l do.

"Awh baby it's okay I'm home now..i won't be going anywhere for a long time.. shh" he cooed

"P..promise?" I asked

He chuckled "i promise"

I smiled burying my face in the crook of his neck and suddenly BOOM fuck it's a thunderstorm.

I jumped at the loud noise clinging to Ash tighter. He knows how scared l get of things. God l think he knows how many hair are on my head too.

"Shh it's okay you wanna go sleep?" He asked gently

"Mhm" i nodded against his neck.

He picked me up god am l that light? Still cooing at me. We reached my room and he put me down. I groaned as the warmth went away.

He chuckled "lemme just tuck you in" he said

Another loud "BOOM"

I screamed hiding under the covers even before Ash could tuck me in.

"I guess I'll just lay with you" he said calmly

He layed on the bed and i climbed to top of him and layed on his chest.

He chuckled again "you're such a baby"

"Whatever" i rolled my eyes as he wrapped his arms around me.

"Naira. No eye rolling sweetheart." He said calmly but sternly.

"I..im sorry" l whispered as l clinged to his hoodie again.

"Shh it's okay darling Bubba's got you" he whispered as he kissed my forehead.

And I was asleep. Without knowing what tomorrow held for me.
