Hello, my name is Sharig Serrano in this video I will talk about my debate skills. I took debate in my last year of high school. I always wanted to participate in debate and in my señor year I finally got the opportunity when I met Ava. She noticed I loved to fight and was very competitive,
and asked me to be her debate partner.
Because even when I was the new student in class I disagreed publicly about the injustice in the student congress election. In my old school I was know for being some kind of social justice warrior due to the fact that I was one of the few feminists in my class and was against all types of injustice and discrimination. Back then I was known for being stubborn for disagreeing in class, discussion with my teachers and being the o my girl in the science fair exposición, where the teaching only asked for men to participate because " there were no important female scientists".
The passion I felt for social justice gave me experience at defending my ideas. This helped me with my debate skills. Since Ava had a lot more debate experience than me, we had to compete against people her level instead of beginners like me. I still remember how nervous i was for our first debate and how happy we were when we discovered we won. Still we did loose the other 2 out of 3 rounds. Which makes sense as this was our first tournament working together. After that we were a solid team and went into the semifinals.
That why most people in my life thought I was gonna a study law. I even considerated it myself. Working in the law system close to the government I could have maybe I could have made a change in my country, but to be honest I don't really like politics that much.
As for right now my goals is just to finish this trimester. And a long term goal will be to finish my career. In all honesty I want to finish as soon as possible. That way I can get to study My desired specialty which is what really interests me and brought me into the medicine world. I talked briefly about my learning German journey in past assignments. I am set on study in Germany or Austria. I don't plan to distract myself of my long term goal and accomplish all the trials and tribulation along the way
