What If? [Giyushino Fanfic]

Chapter One

On the day before the former Water Hashira's 25th birthday, Giyuu lay on the cold grass, staring at the night sky.

It was the man's last day alive... He had survived countless demon attacks that had killed his sister, best friend, comrades, and. even the woman he loved, yet here he was laying there just waiting for a stupid curse to come and kill him.

A tear streamed down the man's face. "I don't want to die." he spoke quietly. "Please god, let me live... I apologize for the way i used to feel, I don't want to die anymore." A breeze swept over Giyu, causing him to close his eyes. Once he opened his eyes again it was pitch black.

Giyu slowly stood up and looked around, but no matter how hard he looked all he could see was darkness.  He spoke out again "I guess this is it... Goodbye , Tanjiro and Nezuko"

Out of nowhere a dark figure appeared in front of Giyu.  The figure stood over 7 feet tall and looked down at Giyu.

"Are you taking me to hell?"

The figure chuckled, catching Giyu off guard. "No" the figure spoke, in a deep tone

"Then what are you here for?"

"Giyu Tomioka... Have you ever thought, What if?  What if I had saved my sister? What if had saved Sabito? What if i had saved Shinobu?"

"Yes i have thought that..."

"I'll give you an opportunity then..."

Giyu's eyes shot wide open "What do you mean an opportunity?"

"You would like to save your sister wouldn't you?"

"Yes."

"Then I will allow you to so"

"How would you do that?" Giyu questioned

"Doesn't matter, I am going to send you back to your childhood.  Just be aware, you won't remember this life you lived, you will completely restart over again"

"Wait what do you mea—"

With a snap of the dark figures fingers everything disappeared

A young Giyu woke up and walked to the kitchen, the same as any other morning. "Good morning Giyu!" his older sister said happily

"Good morning Nee-san!" the young boy replied

He went through his day as usual until dinner, when his head began to throb. The boy dropped to his knees grabbing his head in pain. "Giyu, you need to hide now!" an unknown man's voice pleaded with him

"What's happening to me?"

"Giyu! Grab Tsukato and hide in the closet now! no matter what you do don't let her leave that closet!"

"Tsukato!" The young boy yelled as he ran towards his elder sister.  Giyu grabbed onto Tsukato and pulled her into a storage closet near by.

"Giyu what are you doi-"

Just then their front door was smashed into the ground, and a demonic figure walked through the door.  "Stay exactly where you are" the mysterious voice directed Giyu once again. Tsukato held onto her little brother will all of her life, making sure not to make a sound.

"I know somebody is here"  The demon said

The two siblings watched through a vent on the door, when suddenly the demons neck turned straight towards them. "I found you" the demon said with a horrifying smile

"RUN!" the voice inside of Giyu's head screamed.

Hearing those words Giyu grabbed his sisters wrist, opened the door, and ran straight through the broken doorframe exiting the house.  Soon after the two had exited the house they were thrown onto the dirt road below.

Giyu was picked up by the throat. The demon stared into Giyus eyes. "I am going to enjoy eating you" the demon said.  It held its other hand up and shot it towards Giyus face.

Right before the demon killed Giyu, a pitchfork slammed into the demons face. Giyu looked to see his sister tackle it to the ground. "Run Giyu!" she yelled

"Do not run Giyu! Help her now! If you don't help her she'll die!"

Giyu jumped on top of the demon and held its shoulders to the ground. 

The demon laughed "You really think to humans can hold a human down!?"

"Breath Giyu... gain entire control of your bodies blood flow. Once you do that pump all of your blood into your arms and hold him down until sunlight"

Giyu had no idea how this was supposed to help him, but he did as the voice told him to.

"Huh!?" the demon yelled! "Why the hell can't I get up you little shit!?"

The Tomioka siblings held the demon down til sunlight, where it inevitably began to crumble away.

Tsukato immediately threw her arms around her little brother holding onto him tightly. "Giyu are you okay!?"

The young boy no more than 12 years old nodded as he accepted his sisters embrace. "Are you okay" he asked

"Yes Giyu!" his sister said refusing to let him go.

A few days had passed since the demon attacked the siblings.

"Giyu..  Travel to Mount Sagiri, and find a man named Sakonji Urokadaki. He will teach you how to keep you and your sister safe from demons."

"Will I really be able to keep Tsukato Nee-san safe?" Giyu asked

"Yes. say your goodbyes and learn to become a demon slayer..."

Giyu did as the voice said. He informed his sister that he would be traveling to Mount Sagiri to become a demon slayer. Even with the pleads of Tsukato to stay there with her, he had to be able to protect her, so he said his final goodbyes and set off on his journey.

Giyu had been walking up the Mountain for hours when he collapsed in the snow, passing out.

When the boy awoke he found himself in a small wooden cabin, with a fire lit in the center of the room. Everything looked so familiar to him, but he didn't know why.

Giyu lay on the wooden floor for a few minutes. Eventually a door opened and a man in a red tengu mask walked into the room, followed by a boy whom was wearing a green and yellow patterned hoari.

"Hello" the man said "My name is Sakonji Urokodaki and this is Sabito." he said pointing to the boy.

"Why do I feel like I know these two?" the boy thought.

"I presume you want to become a Demon Slayer?" Urokodaki said

"Yes Sir!"
