Tee & Johnny

"What is it Mike?" Rick asked as he came into the living room, where evryone was gathered.
"It's not the cleaning roster it's it again?"
"No. It's not."
"You're being serious."
"Yes. Yesterday, Tee got a letter from her mum and today, she went to meet her. Johnny managed to find her, but their step dad was there."
"So?"
"Is there something bad about their step dad?"
"Yes Mo. There is."
"Tell us."
"Carmen. You put Tee in harm's way by not telling us."
"But her mum's nice."
"She's being controlled."
"Are they ok?" Rick asked and everyone looked at him. "Johnny and Tee?"
"They're in hospital."
"What?!"
"Hospital?"
"What happened?"
"Their step father attacked them. Tee is in intensive care."
"What's that?"
"It means that she has been seriously injured."
"And Johnny?"
"He's got several broken bones, a fractured skull and a severe concussion."
"Their step dad did this to them?"
"Yes."
"What about their mum?"
"She's not important right now. Tee and Johnny should make a full recovery, but they should never have been allowed to meet their mother. Their safety is more important than a promise. Carmen."
"Why are you telling me off?"
"Because if you had told us, they wouldn't be in hospital."
"How long are their recoveries going to take?"
"A few weeks. Months possibly for Tee."
"Wait, Johnny's injuries are the less serious ones?"
"Yes Tyler."
"Are they ok?"
"Tee's still unconscious, but the doctors are doing all that they can for her. Johnny is awake and he's very shaken."
"Can we visit him?"
"Yes. But one at a time."
"Can I go? Johnny and I get on well, and I want to support him."
"Of course Rick. I think that he'll like that."
"When are they going to come home?"
"In a few weeks time."
"Where is their step-father?"
"He's been arrested, and he's in jail for attempted murder."
"For how long."
"24 years."
