Gaia and I stood on the hill next to the forest, side to side, staring down at the battlefield.

There were more people present than I expected. About fourty people on Caine’s side and sixty on Sam’s, but the kids on Caine’s side were fighting differently. They didn’t shy away from using violence. In addition, there were about twenty members of the Human Crew present, loud and heavy built guys swinging baseball bats and machetes, but they generally stayed a bit in the back. In the middle of the open spot, Caine and Sam were circling eachother, yelling insults and provocative terms as they waited for eachother’s next strike. They used their fists, but neither of them had resolted to using their power, not yet. Around them, kids were fighting eachother using knives, baseball bats and powers, and some had even brought a gun. About twenty kids were laying on the ground, heavily injured, as Edilio’s soldiers desperately tried to carry them away from the bloodbad.

A few kids were laying in a pool of blood, motionless, huge flesh wounds disfiguring their chests and stomachs. Good thing Aria wasn’t here, she would’ve lost her mind.

Jax was fighting Lance and Zil at the same time, but for some reason, he refused to use his power. Maybe the fresh memory of injuring Lance at the ‘Freaks-and-Humans-United’-Training session had made him more terrified of being called a filthy moof than getting killed. However, his opponents didn’t hold back and I clenched my teeth when Lance struck him across the shoulder, leaving a nasty flesh wound. Even from this distance, I could hear Jax’ mortified scream as he stumbled back, clutching his shoulder as blood started to seep through his clothes.
Lance cheered. Zil held his hand up for a high five, which the other boy answered after a weird glance in his direction.

Edilio was keeping an eye out for the injured children, but then suddenly, Penny jumped him from behind, pinning him up against a tree with her gun to his head. She hesitated. One moment too long. He knocked the gun out of her hand, flipping her over and kicking her to the ground. He jumped on top of her, punching her square in the face. She kicked him in the stomach, rolling him over and slamming his back against the wall with an unmistakable agression, but she has lost her advantage.

Ivy was sneaking up the Human Crew members from behind, poisoning them one by one. But she used a poison that made them pass out instead of killing them, I could see it by the way she gently caught them before they hit the ground, to lay them down slowly. Then, she got stabbed in the arm by a blonde girl I vaguely recognized as Kayleigh, known as one of the most psychotic members of the Human Crew. Ivy screamed out in pain and Kayleigh laughed, twisting the knife in her arm and yanking it out before kicking her to the ground. But then, Kayleigh shrieked as someone threw a knife to her leg. Joey. She fell to the ground and with a loud cry of fury, he launched himself on top of her. They rolled over, punching and kicking eachother.

Becky stood next to a tree, trembling with exhaustion as she tried to use her power to calm down the people around her, but she screamed out in terror as she saw what happened to Ivy. She runned over to her and kneeled down next to her, applying pressure to the wound in her arm to try and stop the bleeding. Lana wasn’t here, probably because she didn’t want to waste her time on something so usless.

Drake seemed to have completely forgotten his task: he only had eyes for Skyler. He yelled out in anger as he repeatedly tried to hit her with his whip, but she dodged nearly all of his punches. He let out a bunch of cursewords as she threw a well-aimed punch to his neck. Then she shot him in the foot.

Caine suddenly attacked, using his telekinetic power to smack his brother against a tree, which drew a cry of pain from him. Caine laughed and raised his hands to attack again, but then fell through his knees as the ground behind him started to shake violently and cracks appeared. Hope. She was standing behind him, her face twisted with anger as she slowly walked towards him, twirling her knife.
